I was just wondering about planned parenthood and dealing with PCOS... I currently am without a Dr. and am about to lose my insurance and don't know when I'll be able to get on medicaid, and I haven't had my yearly in almost 2 years...which I know is really bad to do, but things have been rough. Anyway- i know that one of the planned parenthoods in the area will see me free of charge...for everything, the exam and bc, (they base it on income). I'm just wondering how good an idea would be, i don't know how much they've dealt with PCOS, but if i get and take my medical records i should be alright, right??

YOur pale pink post is so difficult to read! But here is my experience...
Planned Parenthood offers wonderful basic services, like pap smears and access to bcp (Thank God for PP!), but when it became clear that I had a bigger problem (PCOS), they had to refer me to an OB practice. That's not what they do. PCOS is a complicated condition that manifests differently in every woman, and requires management by someone who is experienced in treating the syndrome.
HTH!
ETA...at the very least, do see them for a pap smear. You are overdue!
thanks for the advice. I know I'm waaaayyy overdue for a pap, which is honestly the one reason I've been thinking about going to PP, especially since I'm having problems from the PCOS again because of not being on BC. I just wasn't sure how well they deal with something like PCOS, stuff like that. Thanks again!

I don't see anything wrong with going to them for a pap or BCP, but like bonnieboo said, they're really not meant to treat serious conditions like PCOS. It can work if you know what you need for your body/symptoms, but you might need more if your symptoms get serious enough, and they might try to turn you away eventually on the grounds that they're not supposed to be treating things like this.
But I do encourage seeing them for the pap and BC if you need it.
