Question Please can you help?

Hello everyone,
I tried posting this on the met board but no response so I was hoping one of you guys could help...

I am writing on behalf of my cousin who doesn't have access to the web. She, like me, has pcos. I've been prescribed met because I'm ttc but the docs won't prescribe it to her because she is not ttc.
However, I'm under the impression that it can help ALL those wanting to tackle the cause of pcos symptoms - in her case obesity and excess facial hair.

I haven't done any research into met helping weight loss as my cirumstances are different (my symptoms are no af and acne) but I'm hoping some of you cysters could suggest good links to info which I can print out for my cousin which she can take to her next doc's appointment. It seems unfair that I'm getting help cos I'm trying to conceive but she's just being told there is nothing they can do until she wants to start trying for a family. In the meantime she's fighting a fruitless battle to lose weight and her self-esteem is suffering so much. I'm sure many of you have heard this scenario before and may be able to pass on some tips and advice.
Thanks so much x

Hattie,

First of all *big hugs* for both of you. What a great cousin you are!

Sadly I've come across problems trying to get Met. even when ttcing (as you can see from my many angry posts )

Is your cousing seeing an Endo? Maybe she should concentrate on getting her doctor to refer her. If he refuses then she should ask for the health authority's address and if pushed even more tell him you intend to write to your local MP.

We all have a basic right for treatment and having your cousins concerns met by a brick wall just isn't good enough (oooooh can you tell i'm passionate about this subject )

Is there any way you can go to the appointment with her just as moral support?

Good luck to you both, keep us informed on how things are going!

Love
Lisa xxxxx

Thanks so much for your advice and support Lisa. Although my cousin has been to hospital to see a gyn, she has not seen an endo so i will suggest she asks to be referred (armed with threats etc!)
will keep you posted xx
In the meantime - any good web links anyone?
