What is Met? Please Help????

I have never heard of it myself.....in what context are your talking about?

Met is short for Metformin.
An insulin sensitzing medication that helps women with PCOS.
It is used primarily for diabetics but studies have shown that when used by women with PCOS that it can actually restore ovulation in women that did not ovulate, as well it has been said that it can lessen some of the others symptoms of PCOS.

Thanks for the help beetle, I have been diagnosed with PCOS since 95. NO Doctor has ever said anything about Met

Alot of doctors are uneducated about PCOS and it's treatment.
Alot of women get met prescribed by their endocrinologist or their Reproductive Endocrinologist. Though there are family doctors that will prescribe it.
I actually educated my doctor with some articles that I found here on Soulcysters and approached my doctor with the info that I felt would help explain to him why I should try metformin therapy.

My doctor after reviewing these had no problem giving me a trial run on Metformin. Unfortunately I am one of the few PCOS patients that actually don't respond to it.

Oh really, I am in the process of getting an appt. with a Doctor that know a lot about PCOS & I am going to be talking with him to see if he can help. You are right a lot of Doctors do not know how to handle this because I have been dealing with this forever & not one Doctor that I have seen has ever mentioned Met. So how do they treat your PCOS?
