Hi-
Over the last month I have noticed that I am shedding a ton of hair, ecspecially after I shower, and its freaking me out! A little history for you- I began TTC last summer, ended up seeing an RE in October and diganosed with PCOS, put on metformin, which I am still on. Since then I have done 3 failed rounds of Clomid, and one round of FSH injections. I have been taking Yasmin for the last 15 days in prepration to try another injects cycle in July.

Does anyone have any idea why this excessive hair loss seems to have come out of nowhere? What can I do about it?? I see my RE again in 2 weeks but in the mean time am wondering if I can do anything to stop it.....I dont think I can take the usual medications mentioned here b/c of TTC.....any insight from anyone would be great! Thank you!

I wouldn't say out of nowhere....

We have PCOS, that in itself if a very strong risk factor for hairloss given our hormonal issues. Add to that the medications, which you are taking for a very good reason, but all of which affect your hormonal balance in some way, and it is not surprising that you are dealing with hairloss. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of logical thought about what helps and what hurts hairloss, when it comes to hormonal medications.

I know that doesn't help you...I know it's no comfort and no solution, but I'm just saying that it's not surprising. And I wish I knew what to tell you to stop it, but as you say, you are trying to conceive, so the typical meds for hairloss aren't a choice for you now.

Hairloss is possibly the most difficult symptom of PCOS to do ANYthing about.

Couldnt agree more with what everyone has written I am 32 and suffering bad hairloss been constantly shedding since I hit puberty and Its not stopped for any treatment in fact I think PCOS hair loss is virtually impossible to halt ... (well for my case and twin sisters nothing has worked at all) ..

I have full sympathy for your plight as you say you were on Yasmin that in its self is a small help ...you cannot take any drugs to stop this while TTC
