Exclamation PLEASE HELP!!! Cysts/Pain in right abdomin/thigh

I need some advice .. I was in the emergency room last Thursday night for pain in my stomach/abdomin (right ovary). The pain came in waves (like contractions, no I am not pregnant) and was so severe that I was in tears/screaming. Dr gave me IV, Morfin and something else for my nausia. My pain came down from 10 to 5. They took an xray and a ct to look inside, but not ultrasound. I tried to go off the pain meds today but the pain came back and started and stayed in my abdomin, right leg and lower back (right side). I have an appointment for 9 am tomorrow to see my OBYGN. The nurse said between now and then to take the pain meds and keep heat on my abdomin.

What I am wondering is, can a cyst hurt this bad? How long does it take for them to take there course, if you leave them alone? Should I inisit on an ultrasound? And a test by the name of CA 125 (Cancerous Cyst Blood Test)? What signs should I look for that would tell me to go back into the emgergency room between now and tomorrow morning?

Side Note - Sorry for the spelling errors.

i was in emergency sat and sun for the same thing. it hurts so bad doesnt it? they thought i had appendicitis (sp?) & even though i know that a few times they have though it was appendicitis and it was a cyst i went along with it cause the pain felt different this time - turned out not to be appendicitis and its most likely a brust cyst / cyst waiting to burst. I did have a ultrasound but they couldnt see much on it anyways but if i were you i would be insisting on one anyway.i hope you get well soon and remember your not alone

I have pain like that often and have been to the ER a few times bc of it. They always seem to think its a cyst or appendix yet usually my pelvic pain is on the other side. After many tests and internal ultrasounds and no cysts they have no idea what it is. They sent me home with pain meds which help but when I run out and get the pain I feel like I am going to die. I cant stand up or do anything and I literally feel like im dying. Some weeks I have it for most of the week and some days only for a few mintues. I was told it could be endo or IC or just chronic pelvic pain but no one wants to do anything yet. For me its been going on for over a year. Hope they can figure out whats going on with you. Hugs

So you are not alone. All of us have probably had something similar. I have been to the ER four times for this and each time they didn't know what it was. But I knew it was a cyst that had popped. So now, I can grin and bear it and I just go lay down and take some painkillers from my last surgery.
A funny story- The first time my DH and I were getting intimate, he was laying on top of me, kissing me on my living room floor and he rolled off of me and I started screaming in pain. Poor thing, he was shocked, the pressure from his body applied pressure to my ovary and when he rolled off i think it popped. And it was the worse pain. I knew he was a keeper when he stayed on my couch the whole night, and came and checked on me every hour till the morning. This was 9 years ago. It also has happend several times after I have had a full bladder for a while (i held it) and then I would pee and when the pressure was gone, the pain started. And those couple times i was taken to the ER and they didn't do anything!

Crazy huh?

Hi, I hope you are feeling better. I would probably ask for the ultrasound too. I have had pain like this before too, usually it is a cyst bursting (my doc gives me pain meds to help me through this). Once though (before PCOS diagnosis) I had the pain in my ovary area but it spread to my lower back and my leg. That time it turns out that it was a kidney infection. Weird, but I never ran a fever with it or had any other symptoms but the pain! Just thought I'd tell you about that so you can make sure they cover all the bases! I hope you get an answer soon. Let us know what you find out!

Default Im kinda

Going thru the same thing but it is closer to the groin area and the dr thinks it could be a hernia or two that have been giving me fits. I actually go in to see a general surgeon tomorrow to see what they think. I feel your pain. Prayers and hugs being sent your way.

Hi,
That sounds like it could be a ruptured cyst, or endometriosis. I don't want to scare the ladies on this board that have endo, but the best treatment available for endo, is removal through a lap. There are however success stories with birth control pills and other treatments. But if you are in that much pain, you should see an endo specialist that specializes in the removal of endo.
Please let us know how you are doing and how your appointment goes, and I hope you feel better! Lot of prayers your way

It felt like the worst cramps i could have ever had..... i went to the hospital and they did a catscan and didnt find anything and said it was gastritis (or however you spell that) then it happend agian the next month and i saw my reg doc and said it was a UTI. I didnt think so.. so she sent me for an ultrasound and thats when i was diagnosed with PCOS!! Always go with what you feel inside of you and remember that sometimes doctors make mistakes!

Hello
over two months ago, i went into the ER with severe sharp cramp like pain on my left ovary, turns out, after three ultrasounds, that i have a hydrosalpinx, in a way, we were hoping it was a cyst because it would have gone away, but now i have to have surgery to remove it and possibly my tube(s) too (i pray that doesn't happen), but until the doc sees what's inside, we won't know for sure. get the ultrasound and best luck to you!!!
