i have a qeury.i am worried.

i take vitex fruit450mg...twice daily. have just started it a few weeks back.

does vitex have any side effects. i had read that it can cause schizoprenia, n pshycoses. i dont have either but i did take treatment for depression back during 95-99.

will it cause any problems ?

how long should vitex normally be taken?is this a lifelong deal?

can vitex, evening primrose oil (1000mg) and dong quai be taken together?

anyone who takes evening primrose oil...did u notice any side effects. bcos its stated that epo can lower the seizure threshold............and due to interation of medicines and bad diet, i had a case of convulsions back in 98.does it still hold good?nothing ever after that...by the grace of almighty.

i am just a bit worried since i dont have a herbalist or naturopath to consult with over here.PLEASE HELP ME.

In 2005 I took the Vitex, EPO, and DQ combination at 1000mg each daily and I had no side effects what so ever

Since then, I've switiced to a vitex tincture because I've read herbs in liquid form work faster and more efficiently I do one dropper full daily until I ovulate and then I do NPC for the remainder of my cycle

my advice to you is research, research, and more research on the herbs you've mentioned--also start your dosages off low and guage how your body reacts to them....I started off @ 500mg and I did that for about 2 weeks before upping to 1000mg...I bought the gnc brand of Vitex, EPO, and DQ and they suggested one tablet daily--But I'm also overweight so I know that the recommended dosage probably wouldnt be as effective for me... 1000mg worked--my cycle regulated after taking that combo for 7 months and I even skipped days and weeks of taking them...

hey we think alike.
i too believe in low doses on any treatment before upping it.
my problme is i have not naturopaths who can advise me on this stuff so its solely my research and i am a paranoid person when health and taking medicines comes into picture,i give a lot of weightage to side effects and get spooked by it.

i am glad you messaged and gave me your feedback. one month of vitex i have felt my af is coming around but not yet.

I dont have problems with hair loss, I take it for the excess hair--when I take it on a consistant basis, it slows down my hair growth significantly--i have a lot of facial hair and when my hormones are out of whack, I have to shave everyday...I've been takin SP for a like a month or two now and I only shave once a week...I also take NAC (n- acetyl-cysteine) as it helps with IR and excess hair as well
