Hi,
I have just gotten out of the hospital. Last Friday I started having heart palpitations and chest tightness. I went to the hospital on Monday and they admitted me. They kept me for a couple of days and did an echo, EKG, stress test, and lipid panels. Everything came back great except my TSH was very high. Has anyone ever had this before? I have never felt like this before. I feel so sick all over and I dont know what to do. Since there was nothing wrong with my heart they discharged me and referred me to an endocrinologist. I do have hypothyroidism but it has never affected me like this before. The ER dr. and cardiologist felt the thyroid might be contributing to this problem. I just feel so sick and I feel like a freak because they can't find anything. I know something is wrong. I went from feeling fine to this. They also mentioned it might be stress but there is nothing going on in my life that would make me have anxiety. Things are going better for us now than they have in a long while. Anyone that might know something, please post or PM me. I would really appreciate it.

last year i went thru a similar thing, it started in april, i had chest pains and it hurt to move sometimes. this continued for months they did ekg's, u/s, and x-rays of my chest to see if i had any tumors. they found nothing. this continued for a year at the time i was about 15lbs heavier, in october i got this nasty cough and it would not go away, they diagnosed it as a chronic cough and it would clear up on its on it did'nt go away until january, i lost about 17lbs and i began to feel better, but my gp said i might have acid reflux and it was common in overweight women and he prescribed pepcid and i took it twice a day and i felt great in about 2 weeks. i am not saying you have acid reflux but you could look into it and try the weight loss if you think it will help. hope you feel better soon,
stacey

I am sorry to say that i have experience in this department. I started having chest pains and difficulty breathing, i went to the hospital, after EKG's, blood test and a bunch of other test, the only thing that they could come up with is that i had an anxiety attack. i didn't have a lot of stess at the particular time but have noticed. I also went from having no problems and all of a sudden i am having anxiety attacks. i know take medicaiton for the attacks and it does seem to help. Good luck and i hope that you feel better soon.

For you to have an anxiety attack you don't have to have stress in your life. Some people can have them due to a simple change in their life (good or bad). I would suggest doing some research on anxiety attacks/panic attacks and see if the chest pains that you are having are anything like described or if you are having any of the other symptoms they describe but are not completly aware of. If you are having any of the symptoms I would talk to your GP bout a referral to a phsycologist and also look into NAMI (they are really good and have alot of information on panic disorder and generalized anxiety disorder, to find the local NAMI chapter you can go to www.nami.org they also have info on these disorders). Hope this help, if you have any questions pm me <>
Thanks everyone for all of your advice and support. I am still having the symptoms, though not as bad. I am going to see my family doctor on Thursday. Hopefully I will find out some information.

I have been experiencing kind of the same thing only never so bad that I went to the hospital. I was feeling really terrible... really sick, just didn't feel right & was always tired. I upped my exercise & started eating even healthier & I have actually been feeling much better. I also cut out a lot of sugar in my diet which I think really helped. I refused to believe it could be my diet or exercise.. I just thought it was the PCOS... but I must have been wrong
As for the heart palpitations, I agree with the pp that you don't have to have stress to have anxiety. I have had depression for years & then all of the sudden recently I started having anxiety too. I never understood what anxiety really was until I had it. I will just feel really tense in my chest & sometimes get nauseous or jittery usually for no apparent reason. I also have started having panic attacks but so far only when I'm actually stressed. I literally start hyperventalating & crying & I can't control it. They are no fun but luckily it's only happened a few times.
I would definitely consider anxiety even if you don't feel stressed. It is just like how you can be 'chemically' depressed even when your life seems fine. Of course, chest pain is nothing to take lightly & it could be something more serious... or maybe not. I think you should probably be monitored pretty closely if you are still having symptoms until they can figure out what the real cause is. GL!
