Unhappy Please help me figure this out

I have been on met 2 weeks and the nausea is absolutely horrible. I can't stand the smell of food and the smell of some foods makes me vomit. Does nausea on met really get this bad?

What dose are you taking? Is it the Met XR or regular?

I was told that if the side effects didn't ease after a week or so (after increasing dose) to go down a bit.

I hope they ease up for you soon! Hang in there.

Is it possible to cut back to 500 mgs to see if it helps?

I have heard that the regular met is way worse with this stuff than the XR is, maybe you could talk to your doc about switching to the extended release?

I agree with Shirley. I was told to take 500mg until my side effects settled down (a fortnight or so) and then to start increase the dose. I take 500mg in the morning and 500mg with my evening meal to split the doses which seems to help with the side effects too.

If you're still having problems with nausea, try ginger tea or ginger biscuits and making sure that you eat little and oftern - that's what worked for me.

I was very sick on the regular Met and could not take it. I decided to ask for Met ER after being on nothing for a while. It makes a world of difference in the sickness. The only side effect I had from the Met ER was bathroom issues for a couple of days. I started on 500 mgs and have slowly increased up to 1500 mgs. I don't think it makes a difference with ttc if it's regular or ER version. I finally O'ed for the first time after making it up to the 1500 mgs and got a BFP the second time I O'ed. Unfortunately, that ended in m/c, but I think that was due to low progesterone. We're hoping for another BFP soon.
I would definitely suggest that you ask for the ER version if your doctor will prescribe it. It's made a world of difference for me.
