Ok. I have been off the board for a few weeks just trying to keep up with life and school and work. Yesterday was my first ultrasound after getting my pos HPT on Halloween. By all calculations, yesterday I was 7w5d, since my lmp started Oct. 1.
Okay. The Ultrasound tech couldn't find a heartbeat. She said aloud that the baby measured at 1/16 of an inch. Right away, I knew there was a problem. If I was almost 8 weeks, the baby should measure at/almost at 3/4 inch. We met with the RE after the ultrasound. She said the baby is measuring at 5w7d and there is no heartbeat detected.
So. If I DID ovulate on Oct 16 and conceive then, there is a problem and I should miscarry anytime b/c the baby has stopped developing. She said there is a very slim possibility that I conceived/ovulated later in my cycle and the baby is growing normally. We won't know for sure until my next ultrasound next Tuesday.
Of COURSE I am hopeful. I have NO pain, no cramps, no bleeding - at all! But, the math just doesn't add up. We know it takes 7-10 days to implant after conception. So if I conceived around Oct 28, which would add up to the 5w7d ultrasound measurements yesterday, there is no WAY I could get a positive hpt on Oct. 31. Right? I had another positive on Nov. 2. Then my hcg level was 75 (low) on Nov. 5, but 460 on Nov. 9. My hcg level from yesterday was 16,411, which my doc office said is good!
I am so confused. DH and I spent the rest of our day yesterday grieving and preparing ourselves to miscarry, but now I feel hopeful. Is it possible that Clomid gave me a hcg level that a ClearBlue easy digital test could detect? But implantation hadn't occured yet? I mean. I've never heard of implantation occurring before 7 dpo - it's not physically possible, right?
Does anyone have ANY experience with this? I would just like to know one way or the other - what to expect. I've read a couple of random posts (per Google) that give me hope, but... I would really like some first hand cyster knowledge. I'm kinda terrified.
Thank you, ladies!

Are your cycles normally 28 days long? Clomid doesn't produce hcg nor does it make you produce hcg so that wouldn't be the cause. What is your luteal phase?

Since I've been taking Metformin, my last four cycles have been 28 days. Before Met, they were around 33 days.

I'm praying for you. Its very possible for you to have ovulated later in the cycle. You might not have ovulated right on the 28th. And it depends how fast implantation takes, I've heard as early as 3-4 days. I am really hoping you get a great scan next week!

Just something to think about...my RE said that as long as the baby was measuring within a week that it was okay...so, maybe you're measuring small now and he/she will catch up?? I know the waiting is hard, but you'll definitely know more on Tuesday...it's something that either gets better or doesn't! You're in my prayers!

You ladies ROCK! To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. Thank you for the words of encouragement. I'm telling myself that since I have no pain, no bleeding, and still have preg symptoms, that I am going to focus on being a healthy pregnant lady until something happens to say otherwise.
Thank you!

My cycles are always long, but they varied from month to month while on Clomid and Met. For three months my cycle was around 36 days and then one month in the middle it was almost 60 days. Good luck to you and don't give up hope!

I don't think any of this is an exact science. I thought I knew for sure the day I ovulated but when I had my ultrasound my doctor said that I was 7w4d (I thought I was closer 9w). My doctor told me I must have ovulated sooner than I thought, which confused me because I had my positive OPK and BD'd on the day I thought I ovulated (and conceived). I'm still confused to this very day!
I would try to relax and take it day by day (easier said than done, I know!) The fact that you aren't bleeding or in pain is a great sign.
Please keep us updated. You're in my thoughts!
