Default Please help...Qs about OPK

So I am on cd 19 and still a neg. opk. I just started checking it yesterday b/c my cycles are usually about 32-35 days long. so both days I got a line, but not the same or darker than the ref. line. I know that means negative, but is a lighter line just as negative as no line at all? In other words, could it be a sign that that LH is there, but not high enough for surge yet, or could it mean that it already occurred and I missed it and the light line is the "left over?" I realize that negative is negative, but I didn't know if the light line meant anything at all. Also, is it possible that I will have a light line all the time? I just don't know what to expect. I am having a ton of CM, but no pos. OPK. Thanks to anyone willing to help me out here. I am on no meds and trying to do this natually (fat chance I know, but nonetheless...Im trying!!).

If you got a lighter than, then I would keep on testing for the next couple days. It usually will get darker and you will get your +. I am in the same boat as you with the cycle days and it seems O date keeps getting further away. Sometimes I O on CD 15 and sometimes it's not until CD 20.

Okay. Now I am really confused. I was reading some of the other posts on OPKs and so many girls said they were testing later in the day. So I tried again tonight instead of waiting until the morning, and tonights test is lighter than both this morning's and yesterday morning's. Does the mean I O'ed already earlier in the week (I am on cd 19) or is it more likely that I am not going to ovulation this month? Please help!!!

I didn't ovulate until CD22, so there is still hope! I also always seem to have a "fade in" pattern with OPK's meaning mine gradually get darker until the test line is finally darker and it's positive, but i'm not sure if everyone does this?? Good luck to you!

Make sure you test mid day, not in the morning. Also remember that there may be times when you do O, but since we all have PCOS there are chances that the test may not work. I have had quite a few of those. I usually start my OPK's anywhere from CD12-14and sometimes I don't get a + until CD19 but I have been Oing late the past few times and my dr. does alot of follicle scans to tell me when I O if I can't catch them on the OPK.

I will definitely take your advice about the mid afternoon testing, but could you tell me why? I keep getting faint lines....Ive tried at night and in the morning, but not in the afternoon. Wouldn't it stay positive for at least a day or two? Why mid afternoon? And could you also explain why they don't work with PCOS people? I know I have read that some girls say they get false positives but what about those of us who don't ever get a positive (just a faint line everyday)? Why wouldn't the test work for us??? Other than the fact that we're not oing. I know thats a given, but I am assuming you mean that we might be oing, but we dont ever get a postiive test. Why would that be? Thanks for the insight and hopefully someone will see this who can help me with this, especially the pp.

It should stay postivefor a day or two. I don't know why exactly, but my dr. always tells me that that always hapens to PCOS women. Your urine in the morning has too much of something in it that can throw off the test. I read that on a few threads in here and also get told to do them later on in the day by the dr. I am currently doing the OPK's and having the same problems that you are, so I am going to the dr. this morning because I know I have 3 follicles and those tests should be positive by now.You could definately be O ing and not know it. Maybe the more expensive testsmight work, but honestly I would rather not use any. I can't stand them. I am constantly in ad out of my dr's office for this.

Hey Trina,
You've been such a huge help to me. thanks for the info. Im anxious to see what your doctor says today. If you get a chance, let me know what he says about the opk. Maybe it will help me too. Good luck ttc. Sounds like we're at the same place with all of this. Maybe we could be a good support for each other. Hope to hear from you. Kelly
PS Im going to test this afternoon with my last opk test. If its negative, then Im giving up on the things. I'll just have to try on my own to figure things out.

Kelly-

OK, so I went to the dr's today and when I went in I was so frustrated. I just feel like giving up sometimes. Last week I went in and they said I had 2 follies that would be ripe by this weekend and one on my left that was smaller than the others, so nothing would probably come of that one. Well, I tested all weekend and was getting all pissy because they all came back - and some were just not working at all. I went in today and had another scan done. It turns out that my ovaries are playing mind games with me and the dr.'s. The 2 on my right that were supposed to get all nice and ripe, stayed the same in size and the one on my left was just about ripe, so I got my trigger shot today. They said, I could test and not get the trigger shot, but I wanted to be sure of things. I think I am also going to try the instead cup with this one so my DH's lil buddies stay in place too. Good Luck with you too! This I think just shows that there can be many possibilities why we don't get our + OPK's when we should. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the both of us!
