Hello!
Well, your question depends on a couple of things. First of all, domestic and international adoptions are different from eachother. Also, if you choose international, the cost and the wait can be different according to what country you adopt from.
I adopted domestically and had a comparitively easy and quick experience. However, in my mind it wasn't easy and quick but compared to other adoptions I've heard about--it was. We submitted our paperwork in December 2001. In February 2002, we got the call from the adoption agency that a birthmother had chosen us. We got to know the birthmother very well and was there for our daughter's birth in June 2002. It was an amazing experience! We were put on a shorter waiting list because we were not particular about the gender or ethnical heritage of our baby. I cannot tell you how wonderful our baby girl is and how glad we were to go through this adoption experience. We will definitely do it again. I would also like to adopt internationally some day but haven't decided which country we would go through.
If you would like more information on cost and time for international adoptions, check out different web sites. The one I know of off hand is
www.worldpartnersadoption.org. There are many others here in this message boards who have adopted and can give you more information.
Good luck. Send me a message if you would like to more information.
