I have several Docs, but my favourite one is Dr. Timothy Rowe, UBC Centre for Reproductive Health at Vancouver Hospital. You'll need a referral from a GP, but it's worth it. He's an awesome, no nonsense old-timer and was the first doctor in BC to deliver a "test-tube" baby.

He made my miracle below!

I know of several doc's in Toronto, which treat PCOS however nun of them will see you less you wish to TTC, which is not possible for me so they are a non-option .. there are apparently two doc's at Sunny brook which i could see, but again they mainly deal with those who are TTC and if your not well yet get out on their 5 year waiting list .. for get them i'll stick with my GYN she might not be PCOS aware as i'd like but her sister has it so she does have an invested interest in helping me with whats going on.

Now if i could just find a PCOS doc here in TO who knows something about PCOS and how is not going to be a B about the fact that I am not TTC nor will I ever be TTCing it in this lifetime. Id be all set.

BCGirl2006...I'm not sure I understand what you mean.
Do you mean an endocrinologist?

Hi yet again S_robb,
Sorry to butt in but under the Strictly Canadian post there are weblinks to most of the clinics in B.C.
Here's the Contact info for the Victoria Clinic.

Thumbs up Naturopathic Doctor in Toronto

Dr. Jennifer Tanner at King West Chiropractic in Toronto is the first person to actually suggest PCOS as the cause of my symptoms. She's really sweet and friendly and more accomodating than other naturpathic doctors I've seen. She is also open to working in tandem with your GP, OB, Endo etc.

Thumbs up Kelowna, B.C.

Although she is just a family physician I highly recommend Dr. Erika Scheffler at the Glen Valley Medical Clinic.
She is also one of the few dr's in the area accepting new patients.
She put me on drugs to help with my PCOS symptoms when others wouldn't, she referred me to the RE I requested, she has followed through on everything I have asked to her do and then some & she is totally supportive of us adopting.
I respect her because she sees me for more than just a $35 paycheque from the provicial health insurer.

I'm seeing Dr. Elizabeth Tham at a place called "The Doctor's Clinic" at Etobicoke, Ontario.

She already suspected me as PCOS during our first meeting, then after 3 different tests confirmed it (my ultrasound, the fourth test, was running late -- the hospital I had it done in hadn't given it to her yet, but I have a feeling it confirmed it).

She basically placed me on metformin for my Insulin Resistance -- I don't know if she would have had put me on it had I not been IR! She's a good doctor, but she sees a lot of patients. I didn't have that much of a chance to ask her many questions. She's very nice though! I'm seeing her again in three weeks and a half so she can adjust my Met dosage. This time, I'll make sure to bring my questions, learn the lingo, and bring a notebook to jot down her answers.

Thumbs up

Dr. Teresa O'Grady or Dr. Sara Healey. They are both Reproductive Endocrinologists. They are located at the Women's Health Clinic in the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, Newfoundland. You will need a referral from your family doctor in order to see either of them.

What kind of doctor True Luv?
Endo? RE? General practitioner?
Where are you in dealing with your PCOS?
TTC? Just looking for control?
If I come across any names I will be sure to pass them on.

Thank you for all your help!!!BeetleGirl!!!
I am looking for a General Practitioner. I have a very good obgyn that knows alot about PCOS, but I have to be refered to her every time and it gets to be a pain.
I have known that I have a horme problem for about 4 years but my doctor didn't tell me the name of it til last september and since I have found soul cysters and have been reading up on it I have alot of questions. I also think I should be put on other meds...So I guess you could say I'm just looking for control...
If you do come across any names PLEASE pass them on!!!
Any help would be good!!!
