There has been a terrible tragedy in my area today. A gunman entered a church in Knoxville and opened fire. He did this during morning service, while some children were preforming a play. Thankfully no children were hurt. However, 9 people were injured. 1 man has died from his injuries, 5 are critically injured, one is in serious condition, and 2 were treated and released from the hospital. Please keep these people in your prayers. If you'd like to know more, you can visit some local news stations: volunteer tv and wbir.
I don't know what this world has come to, you can't even go to church anymore without being in danger!
Random public violence is my biggest fear, ever since that nut shot up Lubey's back in the '80s. Then that horrible McDonald's shooting the same decade. Since then there have been even more horrible stories about random violence.
When I go to a restaurant or store, etc., I always notice the exits and sit where I can face the door. I hate having my back to a door or the rest of the restaurant.
So sad this happened. These kids will be scarred for life and so will the other families of the dead and injured victims of this senseless act.

I have so many friends in that area, I don't think any of them attended that church though. My prayers going to everyone down there.

I saw this on the news also. You hear of stuff like this more and more. You can't go a day without hearing about something horrifying like this and it makes me sick. I feel so sorry for everyone that was in that church. And those children, I hate to think of how it will affect them in the future.

It's so sad. My prayers have been for the families of all involved.
IRC, the sister of the shooter stated he has a bipolar condition. Hopefully he gets the mental care he needs as well as all the victims. I know we broached this topic before & I still don't have a clear cut answer to how do we intervene on behalf of those with mental conditions with this kind of volatile potential. I don't think there will ever be a simple answer.
