Asalaamu Alaikum (Peace be upon you!)
The 24-year-old sister of a dear friend of mine just found out on Thursday that she has breast cancer.
She is having emergency surgery tomorrow to remove her left breast, along with lymph nodes in the arm, and possibly her right breast which is also affected.
She went to the doctor a while back about a "lump" and they told her it was just a cyst. After she started feeling pain (yes CANCER hurts  ) she went back and this was revealed to her.
The surgery itself is quite risky. By God's will, should she survive, she'll begin chemo this week.
Please remember her in your thoughts & prayers. I pray that God grants her healing and a full recovery. I also pray that He grants her & her whole family/friends the patience required to get through such an unthinkable situation.
Let this be a reminder to all of us, especially as women, to have regular breast examinations. Also, get second opinions! Don't let people brush things off, simply because they aren't "likely". We know, as women of faith, that anything can happen, to anyone, at any point in their life.
It's times like these that bring cliches like "live each day like your last" closer to reality then ever.

She came out of the surgery, thank God! They only had to remove her left breast, and it turns out her right breast is NOT affected, praise God! She has minimal scarring, too (For a 24-year-old, this is a big deal!).
They took a sample of some lymph nodes, and will know in about a week if they need to go back in for surgery or start chemo.
Praying hard that they will be able to start chemo asap, and she will not require further surgery.
Keep her in your thoughts & prayers!

Thank God that they only found cancer cells in one of her lymph nodes. They don't suspect it has spread any further, as they also did some type of test of her bones.
I see my friend on Sunday, so I'll know more then.
