Please pray for my son

He has been diagnosed with bi-polar, OCD, ODD, and has learning disabilities. It has been a rough road. He was just released from the hospital a few weeks ago, and felt no better. These intrusive thoughts have been haunting him every waking minute to hurt himself or others. After a week of being at home, we called the doctor again. His regular psychiatrist was in Iraq when he was previously in the hospital, and the doctor covering his patients did nothing for my son except put his progress a few steps backward. So when his regular was available, we got an appointment, and he reaffirmed everything we said and thought in spite of what the other quack said. So he had him re-admitted immediately, and we made the decision along with our son to try electroconvulsive therapy. He was excited to try it. He just wanted the bad thoughts to stop. I cried on more than one occasion, and the treatments started last Wednesday. He got 2 treatments while in the hospital, and to save hospital days, I have taken a leave of absence from work to get him to the hospital on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5:30 a.m. as an outpatient. I am already seeing improvement, but it is still hard to go through this. Please pray that this will give him the relief he needs, and that he can move forward. It's tough when you can't get away from your mind. I can only imagine the torment of having this bothering you every waking minute. Thanks for reading!

Oh my Precious sister in Christ,I can feel your extreme pain and suffering during this trial in your life...Your son is going through more then any child should ever have to bare....

Heavenly Father,Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,we get on our knees and pray for a healing miracle in Gunnies son's life...Lord if there is any demonic attack going on around him,I pray that it is released in the name of Jesus...Lord lead the doctors to the right course of treatment,and give Gunnie the strength and encouragement she needs to make it through....Lord we lift up this boy and ask for an immediate healing from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet....

Thank you all so much for the prayers and gifts! He is going to be 19 in September. He just graduated from high school last month, and that was a major relief to get that done. When he was ready to go into 9th grade, the school system was ready to give up on him, and was suggesting a "special diploma". I took a chance and was fortunate enough to get him into a school that specializes in Dyslexia and ADHD kids. Florida also has a special program called a McKay Scholarship where if you feel your ESE child is not getting the services he needs to do his best in school, the parents can take the money designated for their child and put it toward education at a private school. In my son's case, it only paid about half the tuition each year, but it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and the school has only about 50 students. With my parent's help, we made it through, and he graduated! What an amazing thing it is to watch kids learn their way and do well. Some of these kids are at genius level in IQ, but can't make it in public school! We are a truly blessed family, and thank you so much for your support. He still has a lot of hurdles to get over, but hopefully we can get the mental health issues taken care of so we can get him on the right road to independence and happiness in his future. I am so sorry to hear about your son. I am 27 and have Bipolar and ADHD. I remember being a teenager and how much I hated it cuz no-one understood or knew what I was going through. I hope he is on a good medincine regime. I hope you have a doctor who can really understand and prescribe the right kinds of meds. There were sometimes in my life where I just had the right kinds of meds and I felt so great!!! But they eventually do where off and you have to find differnt meds to help. He should be on an antidepressant, a med for Psychosis, and a mood stabilizer, and then his meds to fix the other stuff. I have been through alot. Wanting to kill myself, thinking people want to kill me, being so horribly depressed, or crazy manic. Please write to me if you have any questions or anything. I would love to help. I wish you the best. It's so great that you do understand. Try to know everything about his illness so you can sympathize. My mother had such a hard time dealing with me cuz she did not learn about what I was going through! You sound like a great mom!

I wish that there was something I could say that would make everything better...but I know that is not likely...but I want you to know that I am saying prayers and going to light a candle at my church for you and your son and all of your loved ones. Thank you all so much for the kind words and prayers! He has had 7 treatments now (I think) and seems to be doing better. I will be off 1 more week from work, and then will have to work something out if he needs more treatments after that. Thanks so much for everything. It's so great feeling that you are not alone when you have a family crisis. Most of my family and friends don't understand what DH and I have been going through for 18 years, and it's nice to hear from people who don't put a guilt trip on you for trying to do what you think is best for your child. No one can understand unless they've been in your shoes. And most of those people who haven't been there just won't try to understand either (something I've learned from experience.)

You're doing the very best you can for the sake of your son and that's what counts.
