****please Read Regarding Long Threads****

Yesterday, the server crashed, and the techs feel that the huge volume of very long threads is the reason.

To avoid this, please try to keep threads to only 200 posts (and then open a new thread). Or, perhaps start a new thread every Monday (or something).

Currently there are threads with between 500-2000 posts, and it literally bringing the server to its knees.

The techs are looking into other server options, but for now, to keep the board up, try to keep the long threads to a minimum.

Neither the techs, nor I could figure it out, either.

At one point I 'was' able to get on, and popped into The Motherhood and saw some of the really long 'buddy' threads, and gasped.

Once we update the board software (see thread in What's on Your Mind), it will be equipped with a 'groups' function that I hope will be a good fit for the buddy threads (and it won't kill the server

So the mods should go ahead and close threads over 200 posts?

on another board that I'm on that uses similar software - threads automatically close after a certain point, and create a new one. (just an idea)

That does sound like a good idea.
I do understand how that can bring the server down though
