Kat hasn't fallen off of the planet, I've just been swamped with 'stuff'.
Some of that stuff has been getting the troops in order for some major changes to SoulCysters.
"Changes to SoulCysters?!?! Kat, you KNOW we HATE changes!!!"
Yes, I know, but I think you'll like these.
- The message board software we use is about to release a new upgrade that will be faster and have more features (like blogs, tags, personal photo galleries, 'buddy threads', and lots more stuff that you'll like.) I was hoping the final release would be out by now, but it looks like it might be some time in Jan. Our head programmer thinks we should be ok with a beta verson, but I don't like the sound of that, so we'll just wait.
- The message board design will get a facelift to be brighter and 'faster'. The new design will be very 'clean looking'. It will also be optimized to work on most browsers and screen resolutions.
- The 'front' part of SoulCysters (you know, the part you never read ) is getting a much needed facelift. Soulcysters.com will now house all of the research articles, along with PCOStories. The research articles will cross post back to the 'related forums' and will allow you to make comments on them.
- There will be a custom 'google site search' that will help us to find things better.
- None of these changes will require changes at 'server' level, so we don't have to worry about the server change issues of the past. Most of these changes will be painless. Probably the 'biggest' change will be the loss of a few of our favorite 'hacks' here on the message board. (You know what I'm about to say...THE GIFTS. Unfortunately, the developer who created it, hasn't updated it )
BUT, you'll have enough other toys that will be fun!
Starting Jan 2, there will be 6 teams of programmers and designers working around the clock to get these changes done as quickly, as possible.
- Lastly, we're getting a new logo. I was hoping to have it done by today, but we're still working on it. Here's a sneak peek, however, before I hop in the car to head to Grandma's house for Christmas:

Sometimes the gifts sell out, so you have to wait till they "restock." That has happened to me more this month than any other. Try again

I think the changes will be fun, even though I will miss the gifts *sigh*.

The gifts aren't gone yet. They'll be gone once you see the board switch over (and I'm thinking it will be at least 3 weeks.)
The guy who wrote the gift hack won't update it (no one knows why, since it's one of the most popular hacks.)
Points and rep will remain, and I'm keeping an eye on an 'awards' hack that will hopefully be updated for the new software.
