Hi my name is Kate and I am new here. I was diagnosed with pcos when I was 26 at the time I was married for 6 months. This was after a laporoscopy to rule out endometriosis. I had bloodwork done and was told over the phone that I had this condition and told me that they had already called in clomid for me. I had bloodwork done to see if I had ovulated.....ONCE!!! I was on clomid for a total of eight months and I had not seen a doctor the whole time that I was on it. My doctor did not monitor me at all. I then discontinued the clomid and changed gynos - my new doctor was astonished that I had never even had an hsg, which he ordered, only to find out that one of my tubes is completely blocked. And it was only 1 year ago that I had my first ultrasound!!! No cysts were found.
I just feel like no doctor knew or cared what to do with me! Almost everything I know about this condition I found out on the web and it is a very hard and sad condition to deal with when you are ttc.
I REALLY want to find a doctor that knows what they are talking about! But it is hard to trust one after all this. A baby is all that I think about and I am having a difficult time realizing that this may never happen.
Sorry if I went on and on....... I am just very frustrated and sad and I had to let it all out!
Thanks for listening! Luck and happiness to all of you!
HI- welcome to sc....You are def. not alone. There are so many women with pcos who were mislead and ignored by a cpl of dr's in the beginning. Unfortuantly there are some dr's that just dont care about their patients and then there are some dr's that just dont know enough about pcos to be able to handle it. I had seen the same gyn. for a number of years and he never said a word about pcos, well after I moved I waited awhile and found a new gyn...I simply explained my symptoms and after some tests I had been diagnosed with pcos. My dr took the time to explain things and treated me with bcp's and told me I should look into losing at least a little weight.
Im sorry you had to go through what you did and hopefully you will find a caring dr who knows how to treat pcos. Try asking around on here, there may be women close to where you live who can recommend a good dr. Good Luck and Best wishes to you

You are not alone. Many of us here were misdiagnosed for years. I had the symptoms of pcos since I was 15. The hair, the cysts, no cycles. They just blew it off. I wasn't diagnosed till about 4-5 year ago. For 10 years we ttc. We had many losses but I did finally have our babies. I get mad thinking that if I had been diagnosed earlier maybe I wouldn't have gotten diabetes. Or at least it would have came up later in life. I went to fertility specialist, they didn't even diagnose me. It was a regular obgyn, who initially I really didn't want to see but because of my ins, I needed to see one to get a referral for a fert specialist. He diagnosed me. He delivered my babies. I trust him so much. I hope you can find a Dr you feel comfortable and safe with. I would try reccomendations from freinds or even cysters here in the same area. Try someone younger who will have knowledge of this. Good Luck!!

Welcome Kate! You are not alone! I'm sorry to hear that your previous doctors were not very understanding. I really hope that you find a knowlegable and caring Dr. soon...I know how it feels, I went to at least 5 plus Dr.'s before I found one who is great. So keep searching and educating yourself as you have been, you will have a lot of support at SC.
