both of my pgs have been this way. they will be extremely active at one point, moderatly active at another, and completely still others. i honestly believe that if i went by the kick count rules...10 movements in 2 hours....i would be rushing to the dr everydy. there are def times each day when she doesnt move a all. thank goodness that as i watched this video and thinking about little trevor she has kept moderatly active. but there is no way i could be calling the dr. everyday. I guess im just not sure what I can do? I always thought that this is just one of those things you cant prevent and hopefully it doesnt happen to you.
Did you other preggies not feel the same way, about your babies being completely motionless sometimes? | This is why you are supposed to do a kick count "every day at the same time, preferably just after you've eaten."

So for you, you would not go by 10 kicks ... you would call the Dr if your complicated pattern got disrupted...

My Mood: Points: 6,538.15 Bank: 2,096,463.29 Total Points: 2,103,001.44 | To answer the questions...there are some warning signs, but most warning signs ppl think of as just normal...one of them is the baby has excessive hicups like 3 or more times a day. there are others you will have to check the two websites I gave you...especailly the one where Dr Collins wrote out his research and there are ways to prevent it jsut not all the time. The video is more my attempt to make ppl more aware of what is going on...If your baby usually isnt active at night then do the kick counts when he/she is normally active...if I would have done the kick counts that night my trey would stillbe here(i believe) but my dr said ten kicks every day, well he was fine in the morning but when my blood wasnt pumping as fast he wasnt getting enough oxegen so he died...
Another thing, please dont let what your dr thinks matter to you...I did and that is another thing that kept me from going in that night. I was scheduled to be induced and becuase I thought they would think I was jsut trying to get them to induce me when they said they didnt have room I decided not to go even though I though it was weird that he wasnt moving as much as normal. I decided that since he had moved more then ten times that day and that morning his nst turned out good (which I look back and dont think it really was good...i think they just made it look good by buzzing him every time he wasnt moving) I decided that I was jsut trying to find a way to get them to induce me when they said they would...but instead I waited and he was dead in the morning.

My Mood: Points: 15,635.66 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 15,635.66 | Jakes - Just wanted to say thanks for showing us that video. When I was pregnant with Amy there were many many times when I was worried about her because she wasn't moving enough but I was always too afraid to go to hospital because I thought they would think I was wasting their time. As you know Amy was thankfully born safely (though she did have the cord tightly round her neck) but I am pregnant again now and I think hearing your story will give me the courage to turn up and ask for help how ever many times I feel the need. So thank you.
Azlee - It was the same for me in both my pregnancies, one minute they would be active and the next very quiet for hours on end and I would get worried. That became normal for me. But I think what I have learnt now is that rather than sit there worrying (like I did) and thinking "oh I'll give it another couple of hours", I would take myself to be checked out. I also think that you have to work out what is "normal" for you. I mean I regularly didn't get 10 kicks in 2 hours.
Sam

My Mood: Points: 24,084.10 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 24,084.10 | Thanks for sharing this video, and I'm incredibly sorry for your loss Jakesangel. I must say that I have to agree with the better safe than sorry mantra, even if it means going to the doctor/hospital frequently. Elisa moved a lot less than she should have in the third trimester-- we didn't know it but she had chromosomal abnormalities, a placental infarct (dead piece of the placenta) and the cord was wrapped around her neck. At one point I was going to the ER almost every day to have her checked. I didn't care what they thought or if they considered me crazy (which they did). I turned out to be right, she was in distress, because she almost died in labor. They all swallowed their gum, and some of them even cried, when it turned out my daughter was special needs and had suffered problems with not getting enough oxygen. I can tell you they all apologized to me profusely for calling me crazy. But the important thing is, I could have saved my daughter's life if she had been in danger of dying, by going every time the movement decreased to almost none, or I sensed something wasn't right. Follow your instincts. You know your baby better than anyone else.

My Mood: Points: 19,624.49 Bank: 634,798,591.71 Total Points: 634,818,216.20 | My kids seemed to be either way quiet or way active.. there was no in between. There would be hours of rest (baby was asleep I guess) and then hours of constant movement. If baby wasn't moving for awhile, I would poke a bit and try and make them move... OJ & Chocolate milk always got my babies wired.
That being said, Owen had a true knot in his cord. So when I was in labor, his Oxygen levels were way down as it got tighter.. if they didnt' supplement oxygen, who knows. I arrived at the hospital at 7-1/2 cm and he was born 2-1/2 hours later. It was aamazing to see a perfect knot in teh cord BTU so scary to think what if...
Hunter had hiccups CONSTANTLY! He was the hiccup kid and there was never sign of any distress with him and there were never any issues... so when something can be a sign, just because it happens dont mean there is a cord issue......
And Jakes.... That was a beautiful video made.. very professional. You did an excellent job and seeing Trevor had me hysterical.. I know we were bothe waiting on our babies to be born and had to wait so long after our due dates.... I just wish he could have stayed her eon earth with you...

My brother was diagnosed in February 2008 with stage 3B Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He finished chemo 9/08 and his final PET was 'almost' clean. There was 1 spot they are debating. Want to know more? PM me!

As for slow movements usually there are at least 10 movement in every two hrs even if they are very slight I didnt think this with my babies but each time I wouls sit and sure enough I would get ten slight movements. But the general rule is IF ITS DIFFERENT FOR YOU ie if you know that around 12pm the baby gos quite still then it ususally nothing to worry about but if you know say at 6pm the baby gos active and the baby isnt moving anywhere near as much then its worth a trip to the docs. I hope this helps .

Thank you for the comments about Trey, I know it is probably selfish of me but I love hearing that others think he was as beautifull and I think he was....I just wish I could hold him in my arms again.

You are bould to feel proud when you are told he was beautiful, like I said before you are still a mommy even though trevor is an angel , your just a mommy to an angel thats all. All mommys love to hear their baby is lovely no matter who we are . Its not selfish at all.
I hope you find some sort of peace soon, I think your dh coming home will help to get you nearer to that point .
