Pls Dont Tell Me It Is All Going To Be The Hard!!!
So, I'm working on getting a proper diagnosis...and was supposed to have a complete physical on Tuesday...All geared up for this I go in at what I thought was my appt time. The receptionist tells me that I am an hour late for my appt and that they were just going to do blood work and that I was going to have to wait for the test results to come in...while this makes sense...I usually have everything done at once b/c I am a good 45 minutes away from my NP.
In a huff I agree...I'm not happy b/c I was up really early and now you are telling me that oops we made a mistake and there is no one to see you right now...fine I'll deal with that...
The nurse finally brings me back and looks over the sheet I printed out from the internet...now you can tell that it is printed from the internet b/c it has the web addresses on it...I told her that I had some other tests that I wanted run and so she took the sheet from me and scans over it to make sure that she had enough tubes to take enough blood...well then she gets to the HCG on the list and in the snottiest voice you can imagine says "You want a pregnancy test!?!?!" NOW I've had it...as a health care professional you learn not to pass judgement on a person...I was sooo P!SSed it wasnt funny...I quickly recovered and said "this is what I am working on with my NP. I want the labs done and I dont think you need any explination." I WAS HOT!!!
Needless to say I caught up with my NP and told her the situation-apparently the girl was new and man did I stir up the office. I explained to my NP that I come there to see her and that is all...I dont need them to give me an attitude if they dont know what it is that I am there for. If you are going to play the part of nurse-at least know how to treat people...
PLEASE tell me this whole experience isnt going to go like this...
*laugh*
You have taken the first step to making life with PCOS easier. Joining Soul Cysters has been a God send for many of us. By educating yourself and asking questions here you can have the proper information to talk to your doctor about. You can learn which tests you need. It may be that you need to change doctors altogether. Each persons situation is different, but there are hundreds of people her to answer any questions you have. Then there are tons of people just here to listen to you and be there for you.
I'm so glad you found us. Please ask all the questions you have. Be sure and be specific.
I'm so sorry that nurse was so rude to you. Some people need to learn what their job is before they actually start working at the position. It is certainly not in her job description to question you or judge you about your lab work. (((hugs))) Rant away whenever you need to. We actually have a whole board just for that!
That nurse was way out of line. I have experienced some rotten times through all of my PCOS, but I have also had some great experiences. I think if you find a doc that is knowlegable about PCOS, that is half the battle!! At least you got the bloodwork--that's a good start!!!
Welcome to SC!
thanks for listening.
Apparently the office got some new staff b/c they are usually awsome.
As for getting a new doc...really no need...she just needs to get new staff *LOL* My PCP is great and it is very hard to find someone you can be as open with as I am with her...
Thanks you again!
Smile
That's great you love your doc!! Now you just need to work on the staff and whip them into shape!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, if you have problems with the staff, talk to your doc about that too!!
you go girl.....
at my endro's office i was really annoyed that the bp cuff was/is too small for my 'bat wing' arms--when my bp was higher than normal for me, the dr wanted it retaken, it was the same tech and she didn't understand what the problem was. since there was still a red mark on my arm from the last time she had taken it, i told her again that the cuff was too small, this time the dr was there and he agreed and the girl got huffy.
my solution.....started when i made sure the doc knew about it and when i was out shopping with my mom one day, lo and behold we got lisa a really nice bp cuff that fits and doesn't hurt....and my bp was absolutely fine.....imagine that
enjoy your doc and here's pats on the back for standing up for yourself....Lisa
Went to get lab results today...ended up with same nurse...I think ol' Meanie Puss is just naturally in a huff mood....couldnt get her to crack a smile or anything...I am willing to say that first impressions arent the best-but man 2 times in a row you're a grump...I'd have to say you're always a grump...
At least this time she wasnt passing judgement... *rolling my eyes*
