Okay ladies I need an honest answer (you won't hurt my feelings if you say no but please be kind if you do)
A friend of mine (who does not give compliments without merit) asked me if I ever considered being a plus size model.
I am thinking about it now!
what do you all think? There is a picture of me below, granted its not very good, I'll try to post better ones in the next few days.

You have a very pretty face, but how tall are you?
Most modelling agencies aren't interested in anyone under about 5'10'' and when it comes to plus size modelling usually the height restrictions get even more of a big deal. If you're about 6' I'd say you have a lovely face and if you have the confidence for it then good luck to you. If you're under 5'9'' I'd say you don't have the height for it. You are a very lovely looking lady, but unfortunately you need to be tall to make it in plus size modelling.
Aww! Thanks ladies. I've been looking into it...I'm 5'4 not nearly tall enough to runway but I might be able to do local print work. I'll have to go to the public library to get a computer that spports flash and then i will go to the modeling agency Lane Bryant uses for their catalog. Ford 12 +.
The only think that has been bothering me in my quest is that "plus" size models are starting at a size 8? WTF?
The average size for plus size models is 12- 14 which is ridicuolous (sp) so maybe getting in tuch with the agency itself will help.
Thanks again!!!

Yeah, the whole size "12-14" thing is really annoying. A 'friend' (school aquaintance) is a size 10 and was considering plus-sized modelling, I was not amused in the least. Why should someone who is a size-ten (or smaller), be modelling clothes that are going to be a size 20 woman? Our bodies aren't the same, and we need to be better represented!
Oops...back on topic
A lot of plus-sized lines also has "petitie" or "short" (thanks Old Navy...I'm not short!) lines for supposedly 'shorter' people. That might be something you could do!
Good Luck!

I say go for it! I agree that we need more plus sized models and not the ones who can fit into a 12-14! I think you look great and would be a fantastic model!
Height may be a factor for you but it has a lot to do with your shape too... for example I could NEVER be a plus size model because I have no boobs and no hips all my weight is in my tummy.. it is not a flattering shape for selling clothes
I think if you are more hourglass and proportioned right you have a good shot... I know Lane Bryant used to do a model search... wonder if they still do it.. I'd look into it and since you are near nyc (i assume) you can probably find out without too much trouble...
I did some plus sized modeling..when I was a size 10 (I am only 5'5 1/2)...
plus sized usually translates to big boned/larger/in-shape/toned and proportioned but not fat..(not that you are!) once I gained weight..(alot of weight-I am now a size 22) I couldn't model any longer..because I was fat no longer plus sized...
I say you check it out..it is a great experience..GOOD LUCK!

I'm pretty well proportioned but a size 18/20..its funy that I may have to lose weight to be a plus sized model!!
Its a crazy industry so I don't know if I even want to go there..I'm still checkingin to it
Yes i am close to NYC.

I'm not sure what her size is, But a lot of the websites I've been on have mentioned the proportion thing, nad that "samples" are generally between a 10 and 14, but hey if I can do i will.
It'll help get PCOS out to the public to...which gives me alight bulb moment....any fashion students or desingners on the page, maybe we can do a plus only line and model the clothes with cysters...We are in DESPERATE need of nice flatter plus size clothes!
Cysterwear!! Lol
