This is my first day on the site. I do not have PCOS but my sister has it so bad she has almost died twice.
Someone told me that PMDD was a form of PCOS. I have severe PMDD and was actually hospitalized back in May with severe anxiety related to it.
After reviewing the site some of my symptoms are similar. However, I do not have the reproductive problems associated with PCOS. My periods are regular, I just seem to have too many hormones. I just go psycho twice a month (ovulation and period).
I have no idea, but if anyone has an answer to that question you will find it on SC. Try posting again in some of the other areas if this one doesn't get very many replies.
And welcome!
Amber

I was told I had PMDD a few years ago, and was just recently diagnosed with PCOS, which makes more sense in my situation. I am not sure if you have regular periods with out B/C, how likely it would be for you to have PCOS, there is only one way to know for sure, get tested for it. If you are overweight, have excess hair, and are really moody, there is probably a good chance that you have PCOS by what I found out. So good luck, keep researching, you will come to conclusion eventually.

Heidi Diagnosed September 2005 Age 26 Initial Symptoms: Irregular cycles, hirutism, weight gain, depression, panic attacks. Meds: Glucophage 750mg x 3, b-complex w/ex folic acid Weight loss: 40lbs in first year Diet: Low carb/High Protein, whey protein shakes Since prego: prenatals with 1mg of folic acid, still continuing with high dose of glucophage, colace, 6 ultrasounds that look good so far.
I have been diagnosed with PMDD. It was way after being diagnosed with PCOS. I don't think PMDD=PCOS, I think they might be connected simply because they are both chemical disorders etc.
Good luck!! I know how hard it is.

To the OP-I have fairly regular periods and was able to concieve fairly easily. Just because you have PCOS, it doesn't mean that you will have wacko periods or infertility.
I think those of us that do have it have realized that no two women are exactly alike.

Stray Sister I am new here after only learning about PCOS this morning!
I have PMDD though, so severe that I have been booked in to have a full hysterectomy this spring, I totally relate to how you feel, the rages, the depression, the suicidal feelings and self loathing, worst stil the anxiety attacks, huh I always knew it was down to hormones! I am currently having treatment which forces my body into thinking I am going through full menopause, I have never felt better & will continue this treatment until about a month before surgery, which is looking likely for April sometime
I do however think I have PCOS as well, after having ovarian cysts removed and the fact that I have every symptom there is that goes with PCOS, yep I copped the lot!
I would strongly advise you get tested for PCOS and don't take no for an answer, I did for 8 years or more, and still after having all the symptoms shoved in their faces, neither my gynecologist nor my GP have picked up on the fact that this is a strong possibility, I found out about it by mistake and now am 99% convinced this is my problem, so when I go for my pre op assessment in March I will insist I have every test for it - I do not deserve to have this poverlooked or brushed away, and nor do you!
Soonermonmma is right, I know I have carried this around with me a long long time, but I am not infertile, I have 4 children and my periods (before treatment) were always 28 days bang on, although very severe.
Don't suffer like I have, shout as loud as you can until they hear you won't take no for an answer!! I know I'm going to!
