Default Pms Pcos

I was just wondering if anyone else had such a terrible time around thier period. I'm wondering about Testosterone. I know extra levels in your body causes the hair and all but, what about mood. It seems when I have my period I can't sit still and feel very angry and tend to yell a lot, even though I don't mean to. It just seems like PMS gets worse and worse all the time. I was wondering if that has anything to do with the PCOS. I'm just really wound up. I've only been on the pill for a few days so I'm sure it hasn't had time to kick in. wDoes anyone knkow how long it ususally takes to find some relief from birth control.

I've noticed I've had mood issues before AF's visit. I don't know if it is related to PCOS exactly but I figure it's crazy hormone fluctuations. Just this week before AF came, I was depressed and anxious. I even sent a not so nice email to my DH about my PMS and how crappy I was feeling. I felt bad about it later and apologized but at the time it made me feel a little better. As for birth control, after it gets adjusted to your system the moodiness gets better except when it's time for AF. That's how it seems to be with me.

I'm definitely very moody before AF. I've been on Yasmin the past year but the past few months I've noticed my moods getting worse. I never thought I had PMS before. Part of it might be that I have a lot more stress in my life right now then usuall but I'm not quite sure. I also tend to yell when I don't expect and the tears just don't seem to stop. I try to just stay as relaxed as possible. I think it takes 7 days I believe for BC to get in your system. At least that's how many days they say to use an additional birth control method if you forget a day so I'm assuming it needs that much time to get back in your system.

So the moodiness might be coming from the Birth control? Cuz I have had PMS before the pill, but this past month has been hell. Maybe that's why. Thanks for your help

Thanks fort he info. I ususally do have PMS, have had it for years. it's just this past month has been driving me crazy. Maybe my body isn't used to the BC yet. I only started it like four days and then it was time for my period. The gyno had put me on it right away, midcycle, and didn't wait for me to start my cycle or anything. So now I just started bleding. I'm a little unsure how to proceed now. Becasue i hadn't been taking them very long. I know they give you 7 little white pills to take while your bleeding, but since i had only been on them for four days, I'm wondering if i should just treat it as if i just started them , and start them again on Sunday. Of course my doc is no where to be found to ask this.(getting a new one by the way!) thanks for the help though.

I've never had emotional PMS, just physical (breast tenderness, water retention). I even have a male friend who told me "in all the years I've known you, I've never seen you get off an even keel like many women do." After I found out I had PCOS, I figured I don't get the emotional stuff because my testosterone is higher than most women's. Thankfully (?) after three months on Met, I still haven't noticed any change in emotional PMS but the physcial symptoms don't seem as bad.

I'm not really sure how you should proceed on that one. I guess it depends on how soon you want your next AF. If I'm understanding it right you said you started about 4 days ago, that would be Monday or Sunday, so you've only taken your first four pills. I would think that if you continued to take the pills as normal, your period may taper off but that's just what I assume with what I understand with the medication. Then you keep taking the pills and have your period again in 3 weeks. If you stop and start taking the white pills you're basically wasting a whole pack of pills, mine are like $35 so I try not waste them but if yours are less it might be a good idea to start taking the white pills and start your next pack. I don't know, this just seems like I'm rambling but I'm writing and thinking at the same time. If it was me, I would continue to take the pills as directed by the doctor since she had you start them before you cycled. My dr. did that for me too but I didn't start until I finished my month of pills. I'm sorry if this didn't make too much sense. I'll see if I can find any info about this and let you know incase you don't get ahold of you dr. If you really want a definite answer, maybe try calling a planned parenthood place they might have better, more clear advice.
