Default pms, the pill, and well just general questions for you all?

Okay well so if I am on the pill does my body think the same thing for the three weeks of the pill until the placebo week. Because the week before that (while I am in the third week of my med pills I am noticing breast tenderness and stuff and I am wondering if I am somehow psychologically making this up) But yesterday at the gym I was like groping myself (lol) to try to keep my chest from moving as much as possible, cause it was starting to get tender. I don't even start the placebo till this comming sunday. Also, these are things I feel I didn't notice when I was on ortho- but when I was not taking pills at all though my periods were very irregular, I always could tell about a week before I was due for my period because if people hugged me I wanted to cry it hurt so bad lol !

I think this is normal. As I understand it our bodies do still produce some hormone and when i have taken the pills continuously to hold off AF a few months it was horrible and I really felt I had to have AF. I too get this. My experience with Yasmin was that my breast tenderness was worse on this pill. I did some research at the time I was on it because I didn't feel very good still after 4 months and wanted to figure out why if this was the miracle pill for PCOS. It is quite high in progestin strength as well as in estrogen affect. I switched off and it improved but I do still get the pm breast tenderness! Good Luck!

I am now trying ortho cept have you ever taken that one?

I was on Ovcon 35 for the first month I took the pill then I was switched to ortho-cyclen. Then I asked if I could switch myself to yasmin cause I heard of all these miracles after three months I don't feel like i've noticed that much of a decrease in hairloss, I've noticed and icrease in blood loss with my periods, I've noticed and increase in breast tenderness (this totally went away with the ortho-cyclen), and I've noticed an increase in cramps. So I am thinking of switching back is Ortho cept a patch? and is it the same as ortho-cyclen? This has been the only month I have been sooooo bad about taking them, I think it is because it was a month mostly void of routine. I did start spotting last night before I even finished the pill pack (which has never happened before) Usually I start on day 3 or 4 of the placebos (which I don't ever take) but anyway I started on the last day of the actuall pill pack which I forgot to take laqst night and just took this morning. It was kinda a rough night. I just got home at 5 and then my cousin called and woke me up to tell me about the message I left for her. My throat hurts SO bad from screaming all night last night! So after I check the weather to see if I can go to the gym later (another winter weather advisory is starting soon---I am going to go back to sleep)

A word of caution about the patch. I tried it thinking it was very similar to Ortho cyclen and found it most definately WAS NOT!!! I looked up the dosing on the internet and found the hormones to be about 3 times that of ortho cyclen. It is just metabolized differently so the 20 mcg. of estrogen doesn't compare to bc pills. I had major troubles with it as far as excessive bleeding during AF and was a total B%#@H on it. I was not myself! I also cramped alot and didn't have an improvement in skin, it actually got worse. They make it sound like ortho cyclen but it isn't.

Ortho cept is a moderate dose pill like ortho cyclen with less estrogen 30 mcg. I'm hoping this helps the breast tenderness and bloat. It is also less likelely to cause weight gain as the progestin in it is thought to not worsen IR and is lower in estrogen. It is a very low androgenic pill so it should help with hair and skin. Who knows!!! It is also called desogen. I took the cyclessa (triphasic version) and did pretty well on it but went off because it was triphasic. I always stay away from generics as they make me spot and I never spot. That is because they can be up to 10% different than their original formula. Hope this helps-it is always trial and error for me about how I feel!

Best Wishes!
