I have a question regarding periods. Sometimes I have terrible depression, crying spells, loneliness where I don't want even my boyfriend near me, and I have felt "crazy" for lack of a better word. The PCP told me that I had PMDD several years back, and those symptoms needed Lexapro. I don't take it anymore, after having weight loss surgery and lost 135 lbs
But last month when I started my first period after having the Mirena IUD inserted, I had a bad round again. I guess it was just the hormone changes, but I kept feeling myself sinking into depression. I remained quiet and held on, hoping that it would go away. This happened almost 2 wks. Finally, a few days after starting my period, the depression went away and I was back to my normal. self.
Sometimes, I get extremely mean and agitated. My boyfriend asks me what's wrong and I can't tell him. It's hormones! Hormones, I tell you! lol But really its not a laughing matter. Can anyone else describe their experiences such as this? I know they are pcos related, but I guess I want to talk to others who have it too.

I've been battling PMDD or something else for a while. My symptons start about 1 week before my period, however, I am aware of when I ovulate and get anxious then too.
I get very very depressed, mood swings, cry a lot, then I'm angry and feel aggression, things set me off easy, my kids I can't even be around, it's so hard. Then I get this OCD horome thing that make me have intrusive thoughts which makes me more suidical and hopeless. I get 2 weeks sanity. Some months are worse than others.
I was given YAZ last week, but I am terrifed to take it. I read some nasty reviews and I can not go into a mental ward over that I am I read a woman's story that sounded just like mine and she was there a for awhile all over YAZ.
Does your gyn know about PCOS issues? My PCP put me on Lexapro to take 10 days a month, right before my period when things started to feel a little "crazy". I hate to use the word "crazy" but that's how I felt during that time. Anyway, then my gyn put me on it every day of the month and that helped. I am not on it anymore, but you should ask your gyn or pcp about it. It helps with the depression.
And, I did not take Yaz. They had me on another type of birth control pill. I was on Chryselle for some time, then later I went on the Ortho Evra patch, now I have the Mirena IUD.
You need to share your concerns with your doctor. The way you are feeling is dangerous, and I completely understand. You may need to get on some type of anti depressant med for that time of month. Please be cautious, and let us know how you are doing.

I get a bit weepy just before a period. Like TV adverts or something stupid, I cry. Also I get agitated real easy. Usually I'm a calm, level headed girl, but just before a period I don't trust my instincts. Yep I blame it on my weird hormones.
Yaz has been my lifesaver. I am on Wellbuterin and Buspar but I was still certifiably INSANE the week before and week of my period. My poor husband- I was nuts half the month. Yaz made a difference like night and day. I am no longer nuts-- in fact I'm a little nervous to go OFF of it!!!
