Question PMSing after starting Met?

I've never had PMS. Close relatives very clearly do, but I've always stayed pretty consistent all month long. I've been on Met for a while now and I'm definitely PMSing. I'm craving chocolate. I've never done that before! I'm sensitive and moody. I was just getting happy with my skin when all of a sudden there are eruptions everywhere and they're a new variety--the type I've only before heard about being cycle-related. I'm not too happy!

I didn't like the doc who prescribed the Met so I'm looking for a new one. I really feel like things should be being monitored closer and I don't understand a lot of this but it feels like I know more than the docs, which is really worrisome. No one has a clue where I am hormonally and no one's told me what the targets are. The endo who dx'd me won't treat PCOS and I'm not ttc so I'm not seeing an RE. I'm overwhelmed and now I'm also PMSing and this isn't a good combo.

Has anyone else noticed PMS type symptoms after starting Metformin? Any other advice? Words of wisdom? Chocolate bars?

I'll be interested to hear responses on this, but I'm thinking it's b/c the met is restoring your hormones to where they "should" be. Not having PMS, which I agree is great, is a symptom of the PCOS "problem".

Having PMS seems like a good sign, actually.

I absolutely agree. Once things normalize you will get PMS and it takes a while to get use to. It feels like you are a teenager again. What I had to do is warn ppl close to me and keep VERY careful track of my cycles. The day I want to punch ppl in the face is usually the day it all starts. When you notice yourself being sensitive to things you wouldn't normally be, that is a big clue. I see it as an incredible trade off...PMS=normal! Embrace it because it means your body is acting like you are a woman. It is what the Met should be doing.
