Default A poem for comfort at holidays and festive events

Hello ladies - I don't know where I found this, or who wrote it. I had it on a electronic "sticky note" in my Microsoft Outlook email system at work. But I think it's very fitting of how we all feel at holidays and parties when we wish our angels could be with us.

Amidst the laughter and celebration
I will turn my head away
and cry tears of sadness
For I remember the missing piece
That cannot be replaced
With gifts and festivities
I remember You with love
even when the others don't.

Oh, Saluki -

That's perfect, and so true.

Viv, do you ever feel like everyone else just wants to forget? That's how I feel. DH's family acts like nothing ever happened. It just makes me angry. When I mention my loss they all get mad at me.

I know how you feel. I just got back from a visit at my in-laws. It was the first time I've seen them in person since Gabriel was born. I had hoped to talk to them about it, but they all walked around on eggshells around me. Whenever I brought it up, the conversation ended for one "reason" or another. DH talked to his mom at length about it - when I wasn't around! I'm still angry about that.

My mom talks to me about Rivi, and DH does, sometimes (when we're speaking).

My MIL won't mention him at all - when we gave her pics, she refused to take them. She said he looked like a fish laying there dead! And I was almost 25 weeks, so he was actually perfectly formed, just a mini baby (and actually bigger than he should have been - 1 lb, 14 oz). *****! I haven't spoken to her much since then - and it was in October. Hubby says I'm hurting her feelings! My FIL has called once since Rivi was born - no get-togethers, and he doesn't return calls. And they only live 20 minutes away!

In contrast, my mom has a pic of Rivi on her desk at work, and she tells his whole story to coworkers who come into her office. I keep a pic on my desk, too. Everyone knows the story now, so there aren't too many awkward moments.

I'm so glad I've got you gals!
