Poem to My Daughter Elisa

Elisa
(written after diagnosis of developmental disabilities and unbalanced translocation 3-7)

Looking at you, how can I not love you?
You are my face, distorted only by pain.

A thousand years of wisdom
In your hand, held tightly to your side.

Because your heart is torn from mine,
I cannot hide anything from you.

Because your eye is always open,
I am forever reproached.

For you are innocence, and you are perfect knowing,
And you are transient, as all beautiful things are.

Wow- pg with your SIXTH child with PCOS! That is truly amazing. What did you do? How did you manage it? Meds? No meds? Really curious here!

To be honest we did nothing, other than learn about PCOS from soulcysters we are truly blessed by God above, My oldest DD is my DH DD I adopted her at age 16, My DS was my son from a previous relationship my dh adopted him at age 4, My dh also had a vascetomy that we had reversed and I had to get on meds for my hypothyroidism, and IR and I lost 30lbs to get pg with our DD who is 5, then I lost weight for DD #2 who is 3 and DD #3 was a BFing susprise, we had been TTC for 1.5yrs with this one when out of the blue I got a BFP, yes and all these precious little sweeties with PCOS, HORRIBLE Insulin Resistance, Hypothyroidism and Obesity
Take that PCOS

Wow that is really cool. My hat is off to you. I only know of one other woman with PCOS who had such a large family (5 kids I think). I guess that really does show you that God is in control.

This poem was gorgeous, just like you! I’ve worked with individuals with special needs since I was 14 & my boyfriend’s younger brother has autism. It takes a special kind of person (blood or not) to have the patience & strong enough heart to love someone with a disability! Kudos to you, Hun!

thats greeat ithink after i finish school thats what i want to do work with special needs children i think they teach you just as much as they teach you!

Oh thanks ladies I don't think I'm all that special, I think anybody would step up and do it if they had to, it's your baby and you can do nothing less.

Working with special needs kids is a whole nother level that is a choice that you have to make to get into that field and I admire that immensely.

I have a lil brother with autism, his name is Dante and he is six years old. He is a very sweet little boy and has made so much progress. Everybody said he was severly delayed and now he can read and spell. My mom just didn't give up on him. It inspires me to encourage Elisa to be all she can be.

what beautiful words, for a beautiful girl. You will never know a purer soul than hers. She is your true joy and she will amaze you each day with what she can accomplish. I have worked with the disabled and mentally challenged, and every day I was truly amazed by everything. These were people that they said would never live, never think. But they do more than we do, they are happier than anyone of a normal working mind could be. I believe because God chose to give them a gift, they will never be prejudice, hateful, or not appreciate someone because of who they aren't. You are truly blessed with a beautiful child.

thank you for your kind words sister. some days it is so hard to go on when I see my baby suffering the way she does getting sick so often, and seeing her not be able to do things we all take for granted like eat, run and play, tell me if something hurts her...

but you are right she is the sweetest and purest and will always be...it is a blessed thing to know that my baby is destined for heaven and nothing can take her away from the face of God.
