i wrote this poem while in a very bad bout of depression whic included me self harming this poem is mainly about self harm but i also noticed it can also describe the relationship between my emotions and food

i call it self harm i must apologise for its length

You are my best friend
You are my saviour when I am down
You are my enemy
You make me shameful when I am happy
You are dependable
Not like everyone else in my life
You are always there for me
When no one else was
You are apart of me
On my skin and in my heart
I will always remember you when I am ready to let go
But for now you will always be in my heart and in my soul
I sit in the dark wondering when you took so much control over me
I wonder when I started needing you so much
When did I first come to depend on you?
I hate you
You lost me my friends
Yet you helped me make friends
I appreciate how much u helped me
But realise the pain you caused me
I turned to you when I was down
I turned away when I was happy
Yet you weren’t content on only being there when I am sad
You had to be number 1
The most important thing in my life

No criticisms. Its feeling. The poem can decsribe basically any aspect of life if your in teh right frame of mind or wrong frame of mind however you liik at it. I hope youre feeling better and more in control now. Depression is so hard to cope with. Its a love hate relationship with youself that I think everyone can relate to. Thanks for sharing.
