Oh, 1 more.... What does it mean when you "bump" on a reply? I've seen that a few times on different threads.
These are probably silly questions. I've been looking all over the site trying to find the answers, but haven't had any luck. I'm pretty computer savvy, but haven't really been a part of a forum. This is my first. Probably because I can relate and I'm intrested in the topics.
Thanks for your help!

Kim,
There is a "sticky" in the Questions Regarding Board Function forum. Check it out. I joined this site 4 years ago. Been away for a while. A lot has changed, so I'm still learning too!! Take care and welcome to the site!!
Jennie
When you see "bump" it means the thread has gotten down the page too far and it's being "bumped" back up to the top so that it doesn't get lost for whatever reason.
Welcome!

1) How do you receive Points?
2) What happens when you "Bank" them?
3) And how do you give Karma?
4) What does it mean when you "bump" on a reply?
1. There is a picture of scales at the bottom of each person's post below their username. When someone clicks on yours, they are able to leave you a comment which will automatically give you karma, also known as points. How many points you receive hinges on the givers' status - how long they've been a member, how many posts they've made on the board, etc. These comments, along with your total number of points can be viewed by clicking on "User CP" up near the top left corner of the screen.
2. Karma points cannot be banked. However, you receive points everytime you make a post, everytime someone replies to your post, etc. These points accrue and can be "banked". On some sites, banking your points prevents people from stealing them. However, there is no such opportunity here. Banking them will however, earn you some interest, like a savings account.
3. See # 1. Receiving points from cysters and receiving karma are the same thing.
4) As was mentioned, bumping a post renews it . . . puts it back to the beginning of its board so that more people will see it. Otherwise it gets lost in the archives of posts. I do this sometimes to my own posts when I really need some help and didn't get many replies. Bumping it, puts it back out there in the hopes that someone who didn't see it before will and perhaps leave a comment.
