Popular medications?

I've had acne on and off for three years since I was 14. Last year I was perfectly clear from Jan to Sept, 2007. Then it came back slowly and steadily. In the past 5 months, my periods have been very irregular and I hypothesized that this could be the cause and I went for ultrasound. Apparently I'm in the early stages as there are cysts on my ovaries. So this, hopefully, is the root of my acne. What medications have the most success in dealing with acne? I also have mild hirsutism and irregular periods, so I'll definitely go on birth control. Btw, which type are successful? Also, please indicate doses.

Will try to help you. I have had acne since college. Really didnt have much before that. I tried nearly everything over the counter, including pro active. Nothing really helped. I finally headed to a dermatologist a couple years ago and that has really changed things. Now I am on BCP, Zovia 1/35 and Aldactone (Spiro) 50mg daily. Because I also have irregular periods and hair, etc. I use Retin A Micro at night and Finacea during the day. I wash my face with a bar soap from OXY that has Salicylic Acid in it. That's it. I have seen a dramatic reduction in cystic acne over the past few months. As a matter of fact, no new breakouts at all. I think Everything I use is working together. Hope that was what you were looking for.
