Cool Pores with hard plugs - different to regular blackheads - anyone?

Hi

I've been a member here since last year but only recently started to post. I think it's so great that this website exists, and I have learned SO much by reading through all the threads, and discovering that I'm not the only one who is experiencing all these awful things.

Anyway...I'll get to the point. I have oily skin, but have recently been able to get it mostly under control, thanks to Clinique products which I mentioned in another thread. But I still have a terrible problem with blackheads, and another problem that I've only had for the last year or so. Instead of just normal blackheads, I have these really hard plugs of dirt and oil (I assume) in some of my pores, and if I can manage to squeeze them out, they are really quite big, compared to the pore it just came out of. And really hard too..almost a hard waxy consistency. I was told the name of these plugs by an RN who worked in dermatology, but I didn't write it down, and now I can't remember.

So if anyone has experienced this and/or knows what can be done about it, I'd love to hear your story! Or if you don't/haven't had them and want to write anyway, please do

Thanks
Loretta

I get them too! I wish that I knew how to take care of them, but I notice them more often around Aunt Flo's appearance...I guess I produce even more oil around that time!

Let me know what you come up with, I'm really curious...

I too have had this problem - I tend to steam my face once a week which helps me remove them and I use a mud mask a couple of times a week to help deep clean. If anyone has any better ideas I'd love to know

I get these too and even more of them lately i've been having a real problem with them especially on my nose and around my jawline and chin. Does this happen with anyone else? : A small hard hot red sore bump will appear (not a zit) and after about a week, then i might be might be able to squeeze it out and it takes some real pressure and then there will be a small bit of blood that comes out. After all that, it will take another 3-4 days to heal up. The whole area will sort of scab over and eventually fall off leaving a dark purple mark behind.

Please anyone have any ideas how to reduce their appearance and or how to keep from scarring?

I would be grateful

I get them were the blackhead might be there for along time, like a year. Then I might be able to get it out and its real hard and black.

Are they called comodomes...or comadones...something like that? My friend went thru as an esthitician (sp) and she gave me a facial once and i know she tried to work those little suckers out of my skin...and thats what she called them.

Milia are tiny white bumps around the eyes. Comodones are microcomodones, whiteheads (under the skin), blackheads have an open pore, turn black because of oxygen, and are easier to get out than whiteheads, which you can't get out without scarring your skin., since blackheads are open. Mine are huge solid ones and tiny solid ones too that are impossible to get out. Retin-a, glycolic acid, scrubbing, and comodone extractors didn't help me. But I recently tried biore strips again and they got out the really big nasty ones and some of the little ones and I was so thrilled, but they are irritating,a nd it made the big ones bleed a tiny tiny bit, but it was worth it--I had tried everything to get those out. Don't squeeze them, you'll scar yourself. The best thing for infected acne I've tried is keeping it clean and rotating polysporin first aid ointment (or bactroban prescription) even though its greasy, with benzoyl peroxide OTC acne treatment. But those don't help clogged pores. Acids/exfoliation are supposed to help the clogged pores/blackheads, but mine are so stubborn! I've heard prescription tazorac is better than retin-a, but I think my sensitive skin couldn't take it!
