I'm thinking I might have a blighted ovum. Any thoughts?
At 12dpo my beta was 34 & 14dpo my beta was 104. So, I started spotting this past Fri & passed some clots on Sun. So, I go in for an u/s on Mon (nothing there on the u/s) and had another beta draw. The dr said it might just be too early to see anything on the u/s, but she expected to see something which has her worried. I'm not cramping, I'm not flowing, just spotting. So, I got my beta results back. On Mon, my numbers were 771. I go in for my second beta Wed They didn't double like they're supposed to. They only went up to 849. I went in for another beta today & it went up to 929. I have another blood draw & u/s on Mon. Any thoughts?

no, there wasn't anything. I think it was because my numbers weren't high enough yet. Your numbers usually have to be around 1000 to see anything, from what I've been told. lol But, I do have another u/s on Mon.

Hi Michelle, my 1st was a blighted ovum, i had a u/s of about 6 weeks and there was a sac but no fetal pole or the sac is just empty. I had cramping but no spotting so the dr told me it was normal and had me take duvadilan (hope i had it right) like a muscle relaxant, after 2 weeks i told my dr that i'm still cramping and she decided to have another u/s, the u/s show that the sac has shrink and that day i started bleeding profusely that they had to do an emergency d&c. So i'd say wait for your next u/s.
You are correct in that the beta numbers aren't large enough to see anything yet via u/s. Irregular betas aren't usually a good sign though... keep getting the betas, and maybe get another u/s...
With betas rising irregularly it usually indicates a possible blighted ovum or an ectopic... however, sometimes it is a vanishing twin, or lab error, and sometimes it's just a fluke. Very rare, but it happens. You can look up wrong diagnosis' on the web...
Keep us updated. I'm sorry you're going through this.

it was in fact ectopic. I got 2 injections to terminate the pregnancy. I know the pregnancy wasn't viable, but I just can't help continuously thinking I killed my baby. I know if the pregnancy had continued, it could have killed both of us, but I just never thought I'd have to do this. The cramping & bleeding have been a lot worse than my other losses, but I'm hoping it's almost done.
