I saw my RE today and asked him to increase my Met since my fasting glucose level was 113 last week. It was the same almost exactly a year ago and I had been on Met for almost a year at that point. He increased it but said he suspected I may have Diabetes. It is so frusterating. I have lost weight since last year and I have been eating better and there wasn't any change this last time.
So he wants me to see an Endocrinologist because he says he doesn't know as much about Diabetes as he should, even though he is a reproductive edocrinologist.
I don't have any questions I just wanted to share. It feels like it just keeps getting worse.

I just wanted to say hang in there. Diabetes can be controlled so don't let it get you down. It is very frustrating at times but I have found that the Endocrinologist is very helpful. Hope things improve for you soon!

I know how frustrating it can be when you are doing everything you're supposed to be doing, and still see no results or feel you are getting worse. I maintained my blood sugar for the first year and a half I was dxed very well only to go from losing weight to gaining some back. Talk about frustrating. The important thing to remember is that diabetes will never go away, but it can eventually be controlled. And sometimes metformin isn't enough for some people to maintain a good level of blood sugar. It is an ongoing, lifestyle change. And sometimes, it really stinks!
But at least your RE was honest enough to admit he can't help you and referred you to someone who can Keep us posted on that visit works out.
Thank you for your kind words. I still haven't heard from the endocrinologist. My RE did increase my Metformin and I feel yucky! I am also afraid to eat anything. I have been following the IR diet for about a month but With that diet you can have pretty much what you want as long as you link your carbs with proteins. I am afraid if I eat the wrong thing I will spike and crash. I have had a couple shaky episodes. I am hoping to see a nutritionist soon. Thanks for listening.

I have GD and may possibly have type 2 diabetes that was undiagnosed. I am currently on insulin and am very frustrated.
Sometimes, it seems as if my sugars have a mind of their own and it may not be dependant on what I eat.
You mentioned the insulin resistance diet and linking carbs with proteins. Can you tell me more about this? I know I am supposed to be lowering my carbs, but linking with protein was not emphasized.
