Married since April 2009 ttc#1 since Septermber 2009
Diagnosed with PCOS in 2002. Some cysts and high DHEAS. Was on BCP for 7 years (I adore yasmin). Now I am on no medication becasue I want ttc.
I recently started taking vitamins: A, D, B Complex, Folic Acid and Fish Oil
I also aim for a very low sugar and almost no simple carb diet. I run a couple times a week.
Going back to the beginning. When you ladies say "regular periods" how do you know you are ovulating or not? I have been testing temperature and it is biphasal so I am assumming that means I ovulate. However I am not yet preggo either but my husband has sperm too.
I have a 28- 30 day cycle AF lasts about 4 days. I went to the doctor in June and she ran a progesterone test on what should have 7dpo (I have all the signs of ovulation including positive opks) my levels were very low (4s) She ran another test in August and my levels were still low 5.5 indicating I was not ovulating. I started clomid 50mg in September and my test that month was 10.5 (very close maybe o) Then for October 100mg of clomid and level was 18.2 indicating I did ovulate. The only way to know for sure if you are ovulating is with a blood test. I am surprised your doctor has not done this yet. This was the first one mine did after the standard physical blood work.

Yes it was the same with me. The first thing they did with me was bloodwork. My cycle is also approx. 28 days. All of my bloodwork keep coming back with normal levels which indicate that I am ovulating. They think that because of the cysts I have poor egg quality which the Met is supposed to help. We are waiting for the results of my husbands testing and to do the further tests for me to see if anything else is wrong. But definitely ask for bloodwork, otherwise you wont know if you are ovulating for sure or not.
I am 5'2" and weigh 126 pounds. I have ALWAYS had regular periods (26 day cycles that last 4-5 days or so). You would think that I was not pcos because of having regular periods, but the only way that I know its pcos is because of the lh/fsh ratio for diagnosis. I have a little bit of acne and a few wild hairs on my chin. I also have a really hard time conceiving. Anybody else have very regular periods and still pcos?????? Very curious to know about anyone like me.
Mine are 28-35 days. I'm in the green weight after loosing weight, I'm 5'3, 129 pounds. I need to loose 9 more. That's how it started was with hair, weight gain then acne and mood swings. Well, mine is bad on my upper leg and tummy, some on my face/neck. I wax and pluck.
Before my miscarriage my cycles weren't regular at all. I had stray hairs on my chin. I had acne (which I never had before) My mood swings were horrible. After I miscarried AF has been on time, no more stray hairs, no acne and no acne. But. It seems that my metabolism slowed way down. I think it has to do with my body getting adjusted from being 16 weeks to no baby, the D&C surgery, shock, mourning the loss, deppression, etc.
I know that this wasn't the original question but I'm putting my experience out there.
GL with everything.

I am so sorry to hear about the misscarriage. I do appreciate the input. I have heard that pregnancy helps some women, that their bodies normal out after pregnancy. I guess it can go both ways. I wish for you that next time you will have a baby to hold and maybe the baby helped your body adjust so it will be easier to conceive again.

...it seems likely that I have poor egg quality even though I do ovulate. Has anybody out there been in this situation and done something that worked? I exercise and eat a low GI diet as a rule (sooooo helpful for my acne!!!), so I don't think that insulin resistance would be a problem for me. I'd love to hear what has worked for others to get "better" eggs!
Hi there, when my dr was talking with me about pcos, she told me about one of her patients that was undergoing invitro. Her eggs were harvested and they weren't good quality so she took metformin for two months and had more eggs harvested - the metformin helped the quality of her eggs so you might consider asking your dr about taking it.
Yes! I am so glad this has been posted. I get a period every month but I never actually bothered to chart it (At first, it was all over the place, 3 weeks, 6, 8, 4, 5, 4 bah.) Then I just went on birth control and never thought about it for years. But I still get acne, couple random hairs and hair loss. Recently got a blood test and my DHEA and Testosterone are super high. So, biochemically I have PCOS.
Thanks for posting!
