My 15 year old daughter has been showing symptoms of PCOS since she went through puberty, which began at age 8. I am looking for answers and support. We have just begun the process of getting a diagnosis. She has seen her pedi and had basic blood work, which was normal with the exception of dhea-s. That was elevated. She is also slightly overweight 5'2' and 146 lbs, has excess facial hair, despite 18 months of laser, erratic periods, even though she has had it for 5 years, back acne, chest acne, some face acne, and so on. Pedi is setting up an appt with endo, but I am wondering if gyno is a better option, or should we have both? I am glad this board is here. I know something is going on and have suspected PCOS for about a year. I read about it in Prevention mag. Thank you for any input or advice. We don't have a diagnosis yet, but she does fit the profile in many ways. The one thing that really clued me in was her weight. She was always really tiny and then puberty hit and she went from not being on the growth charts to being in the 95th percentile in 18 months time. Thank you for being here for those of us that are just figuring out the puzzle of PCOS.
