Default Possibly Hypo ... Synthroid?

Hello everyone. I have had mild PCOS for over a year now (diagnosed) and I have been taking Spiro 200mg ad Yasmin - 10 months on both. This last round of bloodwork showed that my TSH was 6.5 - way out of range. I have been feeling really crappy for the last few months, but I figured it was the Spiro. And my hair loss has been much worse. My Endo thinks that I should start Synthroid right away, and in the meantime he ordered an antibodies test from the blood I gave last week. I have read that BCP raises TSH but he dimissed that idea. I just don't want to start Synthroid if it isn't absolutely neccessary. Anyone have any suggestions? I am normal weight, as well. Every other time my blood was tested, my TSH was around 2.5 to 2.9 (3 times within the last year or so). I am just so confused, and don't want to start another med unless I really have no other choice. But, I do so desperately want my hair back.
