Post-second month on Ocella and I'm ready to throw it out the window I just started my third month on Ocella after being off the pill for 10 mos (unemployed, couldn't afford it). Now I've got health insurance...
I told the doc I had been on Yasmin and liked it and got Ocella from the pharmacy.
Okay, I was on the generic Desogen for years and I never had a problem with it. The first month I was on Ocella, when my period came, I had about half a day of bad cramps and nausea, which I didn't think much of due to being period-less for so long.
However, this second month---GOOD LORD---I had the worst cramps I've ever had since I was a teenager before my diagnosis and before I started the pill. I was literally curled into a ball on my bed around my heating pad and had to send the fiancee out to get emergency Midol...which I took but which barely stayed down (nausea and diarrhea as well!) and took about 2.5 hours to take full effect. The cramps literally came out of nowhere--POW! I was sore for the next day and had to take Midol every few hours just to keep them at bay. Then two days passed with no problem. I go to work Wednesday morning (5th day into my period) and POW! Another mind-boggling set of cramps and nausea and diarrhea (fun times at work). It was so bad that I had to leave work and go to a walk in clinic to make sure nothing was rupturing or majorly malfunctioning inside.
The doc said, without doing an exam, that I was just readjusting to the pills. Now, I've been off the pill for extended periods before and I've NEVER had symptoms like this going back on them.
So I'm wondering, is my body not liking the generic form of Yasmin...should I request the brand name stuff? Should I just be patient and see what happens next month? (Dunno if I can risk missing work due to it, though)
Tell me what you think...
Thanks!
