| Aspiring Earth Angel. Join Date: Jun 2001 Location: Australia ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Let's share some information about where the best PCOS friendly Doctors, Naturopaths, Herbalists, Accupuncturists, etc are throughout Australia. Please post the locality, name and speciality (and contact details if possible) of any health professionals who are helping you fight the symptoms of PCOS. The more posts we get the more informed and assisted all Aussie Cysters can be. Amy (actioning Rhon's great idea!) Last edited by Sapphire Spirit : 03-05-2003 at 02:02 AM. |

| Thomas' and Angus' Mummy Join Date: Jun 2001 Location: Brisbane, Q Australia ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have been to heaps of docs over the years but these i would truly recommend: Dr David Lingard - just briliant - he is an gyn/ob doctor who also does infertility treatment like insems, ivf etc. He is truly a caring man and also so very PCOS understanding! He is based at Wickham Terrace but also goes to Carindale and i think he still goes to Everton Park as well. Dr Winnifred Lee - endo - she is also great and works in conjunction with many of the QFG doctors. She is also an obstetric physician so she is looking after all the other hormonal things to do with pregnancy. She is at Wickham Terrace and Mater Medical Centre. Thanks for the nudge Rhon! Indi

| SoulCyster | No, thankyou Indi for posting, that's great. I believe it is really valuable for cysters to share their successes with going to Drs etc, you just never know when someone may be looking in your area. (I have spent years going to all the wrong ones, but if I ever do find one to recommend, I'll be happy to post!) So if any other Aussies are reading this and have someone to recommend, please share, it may be greatly appreciated by another cyster seeking better health care. (There's a kiwi thread too). Also, thanks to Amy, our wonderful moderator, for making this a sticky so we can always find it easily. Posaa website & also natural therapy website: Check out the POSAA (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Association of Australia Inc) website. Just click on the new forum link at the top of the page. They have listings for Drs and other practitioners on the "DR RECOMMENDATIONS" board and "OTHER TREATMENTS" board. http://www.posaa.asn.au/ FOR ADELAIDE CYSTERS: Dr Rob Norman, I found this uni site, he studies pcos etc, head of Repromed. http://www.adelaide.edu.au/health/og/staff/normanr.html Last edited by saffrhon : 07-02-2004 at 09:50 AM. |

| Registered User Join Date: Jul 2002 Location: Melbourne, Australia ![]() | I used to see Dr Nick Lolatgis at the Epworth Hospital in Melbourne. I believe he also has a practise in Clayton, but am not sure wherabouts. I think it is about a 2 month wait to get in and see him, and it is pricey to see him (about 95 dollars I think) but you can claim that back on Medicare. I thought he was fabulous and would reccomend him to anyone! ~*Tara*~ TTC#1 since March 01 Met (1700mg) & clomid (150mg) combo.. pregnant! first go! I saw Winnifred Lee also with my gestational diabetes (she's lovely) but haven't dealt with her for my PCOS yet. I've got an appt to see her in July - I'm wondering how she treats PCOS?? Wish it didn't take three months to get in to see these doctors (especially when I've been bleeding every day since the start of the year and not looking like stopping!).

| Liam & Hamish's Mumma! Join Date: Nov 2002 Location: Brisbane, Queensland Australia ![]() ![]() | Well my new doctor is Dr David Molloy, and he is also one of the directors of Queensland Fertility Group. He is a lovely man who didn't just look at my size and say 'come back when you have lost some weight and then we will try again'. Obviously my weight is still an issue (but I wouldn't have my gastric band if I didn't want to help myself!), just my last doctor (who I won't name in the threads, but if you wish to know just PM me) made it the most important issue. He was the one who first suggested that I have the gastric banding done, and then after spending a small fortune in seeing him every week just about he said 'nope just come back when you have lost weight and your PCOS will be gone' How's that for a doctor who supposidly(sp?) knows best! Everyone who works at the QFG has been wonderful to me (and I haven't even spoken to many of them) and also to DF! I would definately recommend seeing any doctor who is affiliated with QFG. hugs Mandi

| Mummy of 2 boys! Join Date: Dec 2002 Location: Bunbury, Western Australia ![]() | WESTERN AUSTRALIA- REGIONAL As Im the only Port Hedland Cyster (so I believe) I go to Dr Overton and he is a Gynaecologist. You need a referral for him also, and he is based at Port Hedland Regional Hospital so its all covered by Medicare- thats the great thing about being in a town! He has a two week wait but I always book in advance anyway. He is great and I will like him even more once he puts me on Clomid this time! I lived in Kalgoorlie previously and the Gyno/Antenatal doctor there, Dr McCallum, has his own practice but is on call at Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital also. He is a gruff man but the most knowledgable man I have ever come across- he knows his stuff, I believe his appts cost 50.00 and I think I got $35.00 back from Medicare, he has a couple of weeks wait, depending on patient demand. He is wonderful!!!!! Hope this helps someone out there!

| PREGNANT CYSTER Join Date: May 2003 Location: new south wales australia ![]() | I live in Wagga Wagga in NSW. Although there are a lot of OB/GYNs in the area there are few who deal well with infertility, and even less who are well informed in PCOS. Dr Jane Hargood is the best!!!! I have seen many doctors since being dx with PCOS, but she was the first to suggest the possibility of me being insulin resistant (i am) and she is now treating me with metformin. She is very sympathetic and is very well informed about PCOS. She is situated in the simmons street surgery in simmons street wagga. There is quite a long wait to see her about 2-3 months and the initial consultation costs about $120 before medicare rebate, and repeat consitations about $60 before medicate rebate. |
