I was seeing Dr Anne Sissons in Chch (women gynocologists...Bealy Ave). She's a bit abrupt but knows her stuff & you don't need a referral to see her. I didn't have to wait long to see her...plus she offered to send me any future scripts (rather than me having to pay to see her)...I moved to Aussie soon after, so never took her up on the offer.
There's also a guy who works for the Fertility Specialists on Papanui Rd (sorry...can't remember his name off the top of my head) - he's very good. Has a better bedside manner than Anne but it can be tricky getting in to see him as he does work for IVF patients as well.
I'm seeing Stella Milsom at fertility associates, Ascot Hospital in Auckland. I've only been seeing her for a short while but so far she's been helpful, I feel very comfortable talking to her and she has an excellent reputation as an endocrinologist. She specialises in Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine and a website I found cites PCOS as one of her particular research interests.

St@ce, you can always contact Kathy Moore, who is an auric/magnetic healer and was herself cured of infertility (not due to PCOS) by this method. If nothing else, she has helped me cope with many of the non-physical problems caused by PCOS. She co- ordinates a network of healers around New Zealand and there is bound to be someone near you. Her email address is kathyauric@actrix.co.nz, I think. If that doesn't work, PM me and I will call her to check.
Dr.Ilse Hofmeyer helped me find out I had PCOS and she was very compassionate about helping me find some answers. However, I do not know whether she is still practicing medicine or still in the Palmerston North area. She is slim and attractive, but don't let that put you off... she isn't the type who would be critical of fluffy cysters at all.

Hi,
My GP Dr Craig King, in West Auckland is pretty great. He told me all the reasons Metformin may help me, and didn't hesitate to give it to me. A huge change from my old GP who told me I'd just need fertility treatment (hello, I was 20, and hadn't tried ANYTHING else first!).
i saw anna fenton and she amazin she also does a hosp clinic too. Was diagnosed in june 06 on prognova and cypoterone and doin herbal stuff as well and this helps. Just wantin to lose the weight
Hi
We see Wayne Gillett at Dunedin public hospital, he is pretty good. He had no hesitation in putting me on met when i asked about it. Only one thing is he wont allow you to have IVF if you are too overweight so that is my mission for the next month or so.
Scarlet Congrats Have you been to see Andrew Murray? What did you think of him? He did the retrieval for my 3rd ivf, it was so incredibly painful and his bedside manner sucks, he also did my transfer which wasn't as bad, i said to dh if we ever do ivf again and he is on retrievals that i would walk out. I had John Tait for my first retrieval and Mark Stegman for my second and they were both really good, it still hurt but their bedside manner was better and they were a lot quicker.

Thanks Finn
I only went to see him once. He is quite convincing and kinda too 'clean cut', don't know how to explain but he doesn't come across as a doctor. Plus i can't get over the fact how much they charge for everything! Luckily i don't have to go back there since it all happened without their "help"
Whats happening with you at the moment? Hope everything is going as it should

To get an appt with a specialist like a gyny or endrocrinologist do you have to be referred by your GP first or can you just ring up and make an appt??
