My Mood: Points: 184.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 184.00 | I have been on Met XR 500 for about 6 months no results in the positive......side effects lessened with time. I have just moved to 1000 mg every night.......the side effects are killing me. The one side efffect that I have not heard any body say anything about is.....using the bathroom....."#1". I have to go pee every 10 minutes. I have decreased my fluid intake not because of that but I just dont want anything.
Does anybody have any thoughts on this or have this problem too?
Thanks all!

Points: 147.65 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 147.65 | Hello!
I just wanted to ask a question... how long does it take for the side effects to slow down or at least stop?!?! I started taking Gluc XR about two weeks ago and today am to being the full dosage of 2500 mgs. I know I have to start it to get through it but I'm so tired of not feeling well. The first weed wasn't so bad but as the second week has gone on it's getting worse. My stomach hurts, i'm bloated, i feel fat and just plain old depressed! I had lost so much weight and felts so good and now.... it's all back on and I feel like a fat pig!! I'm trying, and doing good for the most part, to follow what the dietician told me to do, but I also feel like it's never going to work!
Any suggestions on how to help the bloating alone would be a tremendous help! thank god we aren't alone in this!!!

Points: 1,268.57 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,268.57 | Side effects of Met XR Hi everyone.
I have NO IDEA if this side effect is from Met, but I've always felt that it is.
I get extreme anxiety when I'm on it. It's in the pit of my stomach almost like an anxiety attack. My muscles get tight and I just don't feel good. Doesn't matter what I eat, it's still that uneasy feeling in my body.
I've tried Met a bunch of times over the past 6 yrs and it's always does the same thing to me. Actually, I was on BCP's a few years ago and the same thing was happening to me from those.
I'm on 500 mgs in the morning, and I stopped the 2nd dose of 500 mgs at night. So now I'm kinda okay.
Every Dr. I've been too says it's IMPOSSIBLE to get anxiety from it.
Aside from that, I was on 100mgs for 6 months and my insulin is still high, with NORMAL SUGAR, so what's the point.
Does anyone have any suggestions on any other medication to lower insulin?
I am totally getting more scared as the time passes.
Just added my 2 cents, Issye@aol.com
150 mgs of effexor XR for over 4 yrs.
Get very random periods, none since July31,05 |

Points: 1,043.90 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,043.90 | I had horrible side effects with Met. Throwing up, diarrhea, the whole bit. The worst, though, were the hypoglycemic side effects. I was constantly dizzy (I mean, really dizzy, I felt I was going to pass out constantly). I also was very shaky, and my mind was fuzzy, like when you are REALLY tired. I was sleeping more than I should. Since these are not normal side effects, and are definitely showing your body isn't tolerating the drug well, I discontinued it after only a week and a half. I decided that since I had never really tried to control things naturally (immediately after a diagnosis, I was prescribed the drug, so it was the first thing I tried), I would try diet only. Well, diet solved it all for me, I now still have things very much under control with diet only.

My Mood: Points: 1,162.46 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,162.46 | Hi there...haven't posted in a while, but have learned so much from all of you brave women out there who are doing all you can to take better care of yourselves! Had my doctor's appointment today after going a round of Provera which took me on an emotional roller coaster until I got my AF after 6 months of not having anything happening over the summer. Then I have realized to my horror that I have slowly put back on the 75 lb.s that I worked so hard to lose three years ago so now I am feeling like a fat cow, my clothes are tight and I have hip and back pain again. That and finding out my SIL is 5 mo pregnant has been so hard to cope with over the last few months.
So I finally convinced myself to go see the doctor again to see what I am doing wrong. Well, she put me on Met 850mg 2x daily and I took my first dose tonite with dinner. Hubby bought Hardees and I ate a chicken sandwich and a few fries so I hope it doesn't make me too sick tonite. I am NOT giving into my nightly cravings for chocolate either! Instead, I am reading and researching all the posts here and I just want to thank you all so much for sharing very personal stories about your experiences. I will be on Met for a while now until we get through the holidays and then maybe around March 06 we'll start getting serious about TTC again. The doctor said I wold be able to take it during my pregnancy as well as some new studies have shown it helps prevent miscarriages. (Yeah I was surprised about that too) I look at it this way, sure my SIL beat me to it, but you know I'm going to get a lot of nice baby things passed down to me once she's through with them, right?
That's me always trying to look on the bright side of things.
Anyways you all have a good week ahead and I'll post updates as they come along.

Points: 54.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 54.00 | day 3 on met Hi to you all,
I am on my third day of met today. I should be on 1500mg a day, but my doctor suggested to take it easy and start with 250mg a day and slowly increasing the dose. I took 500mg yesterday and wasn't too bad, had bad stomach cramps though and decided to stay home from work since I couldn't face work with all this pain. Today I took 250mg in the morning and another 250mg at lunch and I had such bad runs, I had to leave work early (I'm a home poo-er, if you know what I mean! I hate these toilets at work, where you can see the feet of the person next to you in the cubicle. and where you can listen to each other doing your business!! I just CAN'T relax there and it just increases the pain and the desperateness of the situation!) Anyway, having read through all your tips, I guess I will just have to get used to it and try all your suggestions.
Its just, how long will I have the stomach cramps and the diarrhoea?
As well, I read that lots of you feel really tired, I agree, I feel really really tired all the time too (even before met), but since I am taking met, I noticed that I wake up at around 2.30 in the morning and am unable to fall back into a deep sleep! Has anybody experienced this too?
Thank for all your tips, I really love this website!

well today i started my first met cycle, i couldnt get to sleep last night, as got this whole low carb diet thing going on, am joining the swimming and gym tonight with my fiance, my brain was just in overtime, and i kept getting up and looking at this site. so today i popped my first pill, went to uni for an hour or so, and decided to go to Asda (local grocery store). i picked up a basket, popped a few things in for xmas, realised i needed to go to restroom, got my butt down with no seconds to spare, then spent the next 25 minutes in there! now, i realised there were to be side effects, but jes-o, diarrohea hell! all i can say is i was glad, firstly, that i was in asda and not still at uni (would never live it down) secondly, that asda had their xmas music up really loud!!!! hee hee, well u gotta laugh, but i also was wondering generally how long does the met take to settle, and also, does the oily food contribute to the diarrohea, and thirdly (sorry!) what is the best time in general to take your first table, im only on 500mg daily until they settle, seems this is common advise. would really appreciate some advise on this, am looking at some other similar questions also. thank you all, lou xx |
