Unhappy Postpardum issues anyone?

I was wondering if anyone else with PCOS out there is or ever had issues with how thier body and hormones were after having a baby. I have a 2 1/2 month old and am breastfeeding exclusively. The wierd thing is that I got my period for the first time since the pregnancy and giving birth just barely 2 weeks ago, and now I think I'm getting it again, not to mention constant migraines. I've also been experiencing odd joint paints and even have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. What the heck is wrong with me? I feel like my body is falling apart and I'm too young for this! Has anyone else out there ever experienced this kind of stuff after having a baby?

I don't know about the PP AFs with BFing. You might want to check on the BFing support thread.

I found that my symptoms seemed to improve during pregnancy and for about 2 years after the birth of our DD.

The joint pain is probably not PP related, just probably a coincidence. Migranes can come about from stress, diet, etc.

A lot of cysters have periods while breastfeeding. Mine started at 9 weeks postpartum. I think the fact that our hormones are out of whack to begin with makes some of us more fertile while nursing, although the average woman is less fertile while nursing.

I had some bad postpartum pain. I felt like I was getting arthritis, and I felt very old. By the time my baby was 4-6 months old, I was feeling somewhat better, and by a year, I felt much better. I absolutely think it's related to hormones going back to normal after pregnancy and birth. I had bad wrist pain but never got dx'd with carpal tunnel.

Gentle exercise helped alleviate my symptoms, too.

Please visit the breastfeeding cysters support thread linked in my signature.

I had a lot of postpartum problems -- the worst of which was major postpartum depression. Your hormones are definitely going crazy for a good while after you have a baby, and even longer if you are breastfeeding. Hormonal changes also can definitely cause joint pain. I wish I had some great magic thing to tell you that would help, but mostly I think it just takes time. Since you are breastfeeding, you can definitely talk to your OB/GYN and/or your pediatrician about anti-inflamitory drugs you can take that might help with the pain. (I know that my OB and pediatrician both said that advil and aleve were fine.) And, as much as you can, try to make some time for yourself every week -- maybe even see if you can treat yourself to a massage or a pedicure or something like that. (Trust me, I KNOW how hard it is to do that, but if you can find the time, you are definitely worth it!)
