I've always had a pot belly however thin I am. First thing in the morning it wouldn't be too bad but it just kind of grows during the day. Even now I'm pregnant the same thing happens.

I've always blamed water retention and thought it was a PCOS thing.

I always seem to have it and it is very hard. I do not know if its pcos related or just a normal thing. I do sit ups and it still won't go away.

I do! Is it really a symptom of PCOS?? I just thought that is where I gained most of my weight. I am short-waisted to -which doesn't help! Something that I found which works for me is an excersise called "Pilates" - I could tell a difference when I did it! Hope that helps someone!

Oh, I feel so much better! Yes, ever since I started on on this fertility stuff I have gotten a belly! I just assumed it was because I was getting into my 30's. I've been doing sit-ups lately, but haven't really noticed a difference yet.

Thanks for all your replys. It`s good to know there is a few of you out there. I also suspected it was fluid retention. I had it before i was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but it went away with medication. Now its back its a pain in the rear end.
Thanks again
Karen

I know I am late but I have the same "PCOS belly" No matter how thin I get, it stays. It makes me look slightly pregnant if I dont just suck in in.

I also have a pot belly as well which I have had it for quite a few years and the only time I didn't have when I was really thin at 6stone. I am only 5 feet and I could do with loosing some weight I am coming up to 9 stone which is heavy for me. I have read that people with pcos have a characterisitic 'apple'shape where weight is concentrated around the middle and you have slim arms and legs and it is so annoying and you do look like you are in early prognancy.( I wish ) I have tried callenetics exercises which have helped when I get the time or the inclination to do them! and I've bought a slendertone machine. My husband doesn't seem to be bothered about it but then he's got a pot belly too, although he won't thank me for saying so!!!

Unhappy

Just wanted to join the pot belly club. Mine has returned since i stopped the pill in January, which makes me think it MUST be hormonally related. I'm almost too skinny everywhere else -- face & chest especially, then there's this bloated belly that I find myself unconsciously holding it in all the time. I think this creates tension, and I'm trying to stop it.

HI everyone...
I am a bit late in joining this conversation but I have something to say. I heard that sometimes that pot belly that never seems to go away could be caused by the fact that ones bladder protrudes a bit more than the normal through the muscles that surround it. With pregnancy, the belly gets even bigger as the muscles are forced to stretch. I am not completely sure as to why this happens or if it is a cause/symptom of PCOS. I may have to research it some more.
Hope that helped

I have only recently noticed the pot-belly getting bigger?? I went off BCP in December so chaulked it up to that but thought you were suppose to LOOSE weight when going off those cussed things. However, I do HATE the belly and it gets bigger for me during the day as well!!!

I haven't had AF in 4 months though.. could that have anything to do with it? (I did finish Provera pills a week ago though, still waiting for AF to show her face)

I have almost always had a little round belly. Fully dressed, it's not really all that noticeable, but I definitely have it. I read that this particular symptom is a result of excess androgens (male hormones)--that's why many men who don't even drink get a "beer belly." It is definitely a hormonal thing!
