Default Is this PPD or PCOS?

I had a baby almost four months ago. Ever since then my hair has been coming out in big wads. Everytime I brush it, everytime I wash it, I get big handfuls of hair. Is this a normal post pardom thing or is this PCOS?

Do you have any other symptoms of PCOS? Is not than I believe this is a case of PPD. A lot of women in my family experience hair loss after giving birth and they do not have PCOS. Hope that helps

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear...things were crazy here when I wrote this post and I was trying to be quick! I do have PCOS...I was diagnosed as a teen (and Lord knows I have other symptoms). What I meant to ask was if the hair loss was a symptom of my PCOS or if it was related to the birth. Sorry about that.

Congratulations on the baby! I had a baby in mid April, and my hair started falling out at the end of July. It started over a few days and then escalated to epic proportions for about 10 days or so and then slowly declined over the next few weeks. I was completely back to normal by the beginning of October. If you've never had hairloss before, I would wait a couple of months and see if it doesn't taper off. It's likely just postpartum hairloss. If it keeps going or if it seems out of control, check with your doctor. Sometimes things that trigger telogen effluvium, like going off a BC or the end of a pregnancy, can uncover androgenic alopecia. I've heard doctors say that, with simple postpartum hairloss, your hair growth pattern should be back to normal by about 6 months or so after your baby is born.
