My cousin had a baby girl two weeks ago. She is absolutely adorable with a FULL head of dark curly hair. What a cutie-pie!
She has been having lots of trouble since birth (low blood sugar, high bilirubin, weight loss, no appetite) and y-day was dxd with hypopituitarism (lack of pituitary function). So far they are not sure what all hormones are being affected, but it looks like there could be many. Although this is not a life threatening illness (as far as we have been told), I am asking for prayers that the doctors and nurses giving her care will be skilled and knowledgable and that she will be able to live and full and happy life. I know one thing they are concerned about is her growth hormone (can cause dwarfism) and also her gonadotropins (affect FSH, LF, etc) and her ability to have children as an adult.
They have already started her on Synthroid (for thyroid) and a cortisone medication.
She will be getting an MRI soon to rule out a tumor on her pituitary gland.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!
I know that prayer is powerful and that it will help her tremendously.
