Hi Ladies
Just wanted to ask you if you would pray for a little boy that i know. He is 6 or 7 and has a rare disease (Furrows, i think) Anyways because the doctor did not know he had this rare disease and gave him penicillin (because he was sick) he is being burned from the inside out. Saturday, when we got the call, kevin(the child) was throwing up parts of his esaphagus (sp). The inside of his mouth was falling out in chucks, like a burn. He was being flown to the burn center at chapel hill. Right now he is on life support and they do not know if he will live or die. Please keep him in your prayers.
Yes, he is related to me (like 3rd cousins) but his mom works with my dh and his uncle goes to my church. As of last night things didn't look good. If he pulls through this, he will have to have at least 20-30 plastic surgeries to reconstruct his throat and other organs damaged by this. I found out also that the doc gave him a 500 mg shot of penicillin (a normal adult dose).
My thoughts and prayers are with Kevin and you and your family. May God Bless all of you and keep you all in his care, May he put his healing hands on Kevin. May he bring peace and comfort into all of you during this terrible time. I pray that he pulls through this. Keep us posted. I will be praying!!!! (((((HUGS))))))
This is just an update on Kevin
They have diagnosed him with steven-johnson's syndrome. It is a severe allergic reaction. It started out in his mouth. I saw pics of him yesterday, he has big black blisters all over his face. He has red whelps (like giant chicken pox) all over his body. His eyes are being protected with a special gel so that when all of this is over he can see. The doctors say that he will be in ICU burn center for at least 3 months. Keep him in your prayers please.
My thoughts and prayers will still be with him and his family. May God Bless him and his family and keep them all in his care!! Keep us updated. ((((((HUGS TO HIM))))))!!!!

when i looked on kevin's webpage, the doc did give him the right dose. It was just a severe allergic reaction "steven johnson's syndrom" that only happens when you get the drug in conjunction with the pneumonia.
Kevin came home yesterday. The doc sent a light down his throat and it is perfectly normal. He will not have to have any surgeries. Also the docs thought at first that it would be at least july before he got out of the hospital. How great the power of prayer is!!!! Thanks for all your prayers.
Glad to hear that he is home and doing alot better! I will keep him and his family in my thoughts and prayers! Praying for a full recovery!!! Thanks for the update and letting us all know that he is doing so much better now. That is great news!!!
