I just found out my cousin (my Dad's sister's son) has cancer. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Jared is about 11 or 12 years old (I can never remember how old he is). I don't know a lot of details, but it is in the lymph nodes above his collar bone, and has not metastasized yet as far as they can tell. They are optimistic that it will respond well to chemo and radiation, but it's still going to be a long road for this sweet little guy. I don't know how my aunt is doing, and I'm a little hesitant to call her...they just got the diagnosis yesterday. I am at a loss right now. This is my favorite aunt in the world (she's the one that diagnosed me with PCOS and she also has it)...she worked so hard to get her three beautiful children here and now this has come along. Please pray for my family and for Jared as he struggles through what I unfortunately know will be a long horrible process. He is such a sweet, funny, outgoing, caring little guy...I hate to know what he's going through. God please keep him safe.

Sweetie, I'm definately praying for your cousin Jared and your whole family through all of this! I'm so sorry to hear what has happened. I pray that God wraps His loving arms around your whole entire family and heals Jared so he may live a long and happy life.

Thank you both so much for the prayers. I spoke to my Dad today, and they have definitively diagnosed him with Burkitt's Lymphoma. I don't know a whole lot more, except that he has the best oncologist in St Louis looking after him. They did another surgery today and a round of chemo. They said that Burkitt's falls about in the middle as far as treatability goes. So...until I hear more I'm just praying my little heart out for this wonderful little guy. Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers.
