My dad has been in the hospital since Sunday @ midnight(he is 62). He had 2 tears/ruptures in his upper intestine, they performed emergency surgery early monday morning and took out a 5 inch section of his intestine and sewed the 2 ends back together.
Now- I just got a call from my mom stating that they are starting dad on some medication as one of the tests they ran is showing that his kidneys are malfunctioning. He is diabetic, and has been having a terrible time at the hospital regulating his glucose level. Last night when I was there he was over 200 again, on Sunday afternoon he went from 52 to over 180 in an hour(that was without eating thing, just getting IV fluids). The doctors are still running tests and trying to figure out what caused the ruptures in his intestine and now they are very concerned about his kidney test results. Please pray for him.

Update on my father:
They have started him on Actos and on insulin for his diabeties.
He had his catherer removed yesterday.
They started him on bland food @ dinner time yesterday.
He is no longer on the morphine drip.
He could be released as early as tomorrow evening from the hospital depending on how he does on the Actos.

I'm glad to hear he is being relesed from the hospital. I hope thy find out what caused his problems in the first place and get his sugar under control. Plese keep us posted. We will be praying for your Dad and your family.
Thank you.
Just got an email from my mom. They are moving my dad to a different room, off the surgical wing and into the next hallway. YEAH!! Not positive if release will be tomorrow, I guess his sugars aren't as well as they hoped. Keeping fingers crossed.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers for my dad.
