About a month ago on 10/7/05 I was diagnosed with pre/borderline diabetes - having very high insulin levels - this in turn helped my gyno figure out about my PCOS - because of me having insulin resistance. It just seems like everything in my body that could go wrong is.. i just dont know what to do anymore

I skipped the pre bit and went right to be told I was a type 2! I am still dealing with it, but have been in a bit of denial for some weeks and have now gathered my brain cells togeather and remember only I can make the changes I need! It's gonna be hard but I'll get there...
Hi Ashley. I'm pre-diabetic also! Just look at it as an opportunity to avoid becoming diabetic. You can do something about it now. I am extremely overweight and have lost 30 pounds since December. My doctor is very happy, and I am too. Hopefully your dr. prescribed a glucose meter, so you can learn what your trigger foods are, and just take it slow and work on eliminating your bad eating habits. Mine are eating past 8:00 p.m. and sweet tea. You can do it. Just don't try and do it all at once, so you'll stick with it! I'm here if you want to talk!

I was diagnosed with the same thing last year, I cried so much, my Grandpa was diabetic and had tons of health problems so I was freaking out thinking that it was going to happen to me too but I now know I can avoid all the additional problems by watching my diet.
Has your doctor referred you to a dietician? I went to one after my diagnosis and she gave me some things to read and a diet plan to follow. I've lost 20 pounds so far!
Good luck

I, too, am pre-diabetic. I have what is called Metabolic syndrome aka Syndrome X. I know a lot of PCOSer's have it. I have high bp, I have been on bp medication for 3 years but have recently started using alternative meds to treat it (coQ10, fish oil and vitamin e) and it has lowered considerably. My dr is trying to wean me off my bp med. I also have high triglycerides which I am working on lowering and they have gone from 382 to 259 in about 8 weeks so I am glad about that. I also had high cholesterol and have gotten the bad cholesterol under control but the good cholesterol has gone down too so I am a bit concerned about that. There is no reason it should have gone down. I have been eating olive oil, nuts and other healthy fats that should have raised it. Anyway, my dr has put me on a 5 day per week walking regimine as well and she said that should help raise the HDL. I hope she is right. If you ever want to talk, feel free to email or pm me. I have a lot of anxiety and depression regarding my health and sometimes it helps to talk to others who are living it as well. mandiradams@cableone.net

No he hasnt givenme a glucose meter. And I cant go to a dietician because my insurance doesnt cover it.
Keep your eyes open on the sale ads at Walgreens. Their generic meters are around $20.00, but sometimes they have a coupon sale where you can get it for free.

I got a $100 meter on eBay for $20 with a $20 rebate coupon - so I got it for FREE! The testing strips are expensive though - even with insurance, I paid $80 for 100 strips. Next time, I'll get them on eBay, too

I was also diagnosed prediabetic earlier this year and i know it can kinda freak you out. I have been taking metformin and changed my diet to better carbohydrates and more exercise...it's really been worth it. I've lost 88 lbs so far and my blood pressure has gone down, my cholesterol levels are all in the normal range now, my acne has gotten much better...pretty much all my symptoms have been improved. So it's worth it. It's kinda hard at the begining to change your ways, but it's totally worth it. If you have any questions or need anything let me know.
