Default pre-PCOS, starting Apri, worried about weight gain

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this site but it seems to be very encouraging, thanks! I have not really been diagnosed with PCOS but my mom who is a nurse midwife and various doctors have come to this conclusion without a real "diagnosis." I'm 5' 2" and my weight fluctuates between 115 lbs. and 130lbs generally (140lbs. when training for marathon). I have been on metformin for about 5 months and love it. I think it helped me to lose about 10lbs innitially but unsure if that was going to happen anyway.

Anyway! I am almost positive that I am not ovulating and so drs and my mom think I should be on BCP's to protect my uterus and ovaries... I was on Yaz for less than two months and gained about 10 lbs. But... I always gain a lot when I exercise and I was training for a marathon. I was gaining before the pill and continued after so not sure if pill was culprit.

I am about to start Apri and I don't know a lot about it. Any suggestions? Has anyone been able to lose weight better on it? I am generally happy with my weight but terrified of gaining (which happens fast) because it is SO hard to lose. I also get VERY bloated the 2nd 1/2 of my cycle and according to my family, bad PMS Suggestions please??? I admire all you women who make happy lives with this icky syndrome!
Thanks!

Hi,

Is Apri the generic of Desogen? If so, I wanted to encourage you by saying that on that pill I lost about 45lb in 11 months. Just seemed to drop off me and was excellent for controlling my PCOS for a while.

Good luck! xx

HI!
Yes, Apri is the generic for Desogen. Thank you! I am very encouraged. And congratulations to you for loosing so much weight. If I can just maintain I will be thrilled.

Thanks again
